Bajaj Fluor & Fluir trademarks filed

Bajaj Auto has filed trademark applications for 'Fluor' and 'Fluir' names.

It has been speculated that one of these names could be used for an upcoming electric motorcycle. It's worth noting that 'Fluir' is the Spanish word for 'to flow'.

If these speculations turn out to be true, then the new electric bike could join the Chetak e-scooter in Bajaj's EV line up.

Bajaj is also planning to introduce a new motorcycle in its Pulsar range by the end of 2021. This is expected to come in the form of a new 250cc model, which will be positioned above the Pulsar 220F.

I can't be the only one who misread Fluor as Flour, right?

Re: Bajaj Fluor & Fluir trademarks filed

Is it still a good marketing strategy to use some European language to name bikes?

I assumed it is done to death by the property developers of India.

And, as mentioned in the post above, the names are quite unflattering too.

Re: Bajaj Fluor & Fluir trademarks filed

This reminds me of Bajajs fascination with plonking in multiple engines into the same bikes and diluting every product's brand until it means nothing.

Within 3 years from launch Bajaj will offer the
1. Fluor (125 kms range)
2. Fluir (150 kms range)
3. Fluar (160 kms range)
4. Fluer (180 kms range)
5. Fluur (220 kms range)

Re: Bajaj Fluor & Fluir trademarks filed

Will Fluor will be pronounced as Flooawr? There will be some in this part of the world who will replace the Fl with S and laugh at their mighty funny joke (ha ha he rides a pig)

Or it might be pronounced like floor like how its done in fluoride.
Guy 1 - "Where are you man?"
Guy 2 - "Here I am, look to your right, I'm the one sitting on the floor!"

Fluir is even tougher to pronounce. Who comes up with these names!

This makes the former names of Suzuki bikes like Heat, Slingshot, etc. better.

Some enlightened soul in the design department had an inspiration . One may also get a 'Flu' variant

Bajaj gets down to business during such activities with jet speed. Hopefully, their sticker designer is also ready with many garish designs for the portions on the Fluor and Fluir bodyshells, where he gets ample space to display his talents. Those red, yellow, grey and other coloured stickers will surely be flashy and attract attention.

Though "Fluir" means "flow" in Spanish, "Fluor" means "a substance that fluoresces when struck by high-energy photons; especially one used in fluorography." Fluorite also called fluorspar, is a naturally occurring mineral that has the chemical formula CaF2 (calcium fluoride). It is fluorescent under ultra violet light.

There is an engineering and construction company named Flour Corporation, that's headquartered in Irving, Texas (estd 1912).

Hence, the Bajaj "F" twins could get many newer comments and predictions from many enthusiasts, until the picture gets clearer.

Fluor corporation is a renowned EPC organization, mostly engaged in Oil and Gas, energy sector, petrochemical, other chemicals plants. They have a large office in Gurgaon, India also. Core sector Engineering professionals are mostly aware of this name "Fluor".

Can Bajaj have the name "Fluor" for their product when a company exists with the same name?

Re: Bajaj Fluor & Fluir trademarks filed

Yes. No chance that anybody confuses Fluor the company and Fluor the bike. Hence it won't stand in any trademark dispute case.

Yes, as per prevailing law, products in different categories can have same names. For eg. Sonata (Hyundai car, Timex watch), Amul (Dairy, innerwear), Indigo (Tata car, Indigo airline).

Why was the ford everest renamed as the endeavour then? Was it not because of everest masala?
