KTM has revealed the 2022 model of the 390 Adventure. The latest iteration of the ADV gets electronic updates as well as cosmetic changes.



The 2022 KTM 390 Adventure comes with Street and Off-road modes for the traction control system. The latter mode will remain active even if the motorcycle encounters a brief stall or fall.

Apart from that, KTM has also used more robust cast wheels. The company says that this has increased the stiffness of the rims.

For the visual changes, the 2022 KTM 390 Adventure has been given two new colour options with fresh graphics.



KTM says that the 2022 model of the 390 Adventure will be landing at the authorised dealerships starting in December 2021 and will be available from February next year.

KTM should, IMO, utilize this opportunity to provide fully adjustable suspension for the ADV 390, even as an optional add-on.
Changing the graphics and color options every year is a tactic that another two-wheeler behemoth, whose name will not be mentioned, is already employing.

I am more curious about the launch of the 490 adv! I believe that parallel twin would be a game changer in the Indian 2 wheeler market.

But KTM would sell the 390 adv parallelly!

Oh do you mean the previous partner of the current owner of KTM?

Very interesting colour, will have to see it in person to see if it really looks as good as it does in pictures. Looks really unusual, it’s supposed to be the same blue as in the new RC series.

Is this the KTM 390 Adventure Rally Variant? Spotted testing in India.

Both test mules get a Dakar bike-inspired fascia.

The handlebar, instrument console and the front end are evidently taller than what the standard 390 Adventure features.

Everything else including the side profile, suspension, brakes and wheels appear to be the same as the current model.

Definitely looks like suspension travel has gone up. So has ground clearance. If you notice the bottom fork leg it starts where the front fender is....but on the pictures posted above it starts way lower.

I may be wrong but to me the frame and engine look very similar to the existing 390 unit at a glance.

The changes do look purposeful and a rally kit would be welcomed (something like rally kit from Hero). With this kit and possibly some software updates for the new traction control modes, the existing 390 adventure owners would be super happy for few years to come.

I think the 490 Adventure is also going to look more or less like the 390 Adventure, besides the different looking front end. Can’t make out the engine clearly though.

It would be great if KTM gives a rally kit as an optional purchase. However, seeing that they didn’t even give India the adjustable suspension option, it seems extremely unlikely they would give any other options.

We don’t even get the extensive list of original power parts here, unfortunately I feel the only product we will get here will be the take it or leave it kind

The Irony is even more amusing when you think its manufactured here and the marketing geniuses think that folks who can pay close to 4 lakhs on road price, cannot afford to spend another 50k even when offered as an option!

Agree with you Neo, however, finally for KTM it’s a numbers game. I feel they don’t want to offer options because perhaps the percentage (like us) who are ready to pay extra for certain options are a minuscule number which doesn’t make business sense for them to get into.

Let’s see how this plays out, hope the 2022 model gets launched in India soon.

Turns out these are some good looking aftermarket prototype mods from Turtletechx, monkeymotocrafts and others. Its called KTM ADV RALLY TOWER and preorder should open soon as per the post. Looks good and purposeful in their videos, wishing them the best for trying out something so good which people took it as something official from KTM themselves..

Edit: they say its a bolt on fit with plug and play wiring, no cuts or welds. That’s nice!

Looks nice, seems the metzelers are back for good. Any idea if there’s a price bump?

Not entirely surprising but its good to know that while KTM US is planning a demo ride on Feb 26 for their 2022 line-up, our dealerships have received their display/demo models already.
