Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 with a 2x1 exhaust setup spied

Royal Enfield seems to be working on an updated model of the Interceptor 650. A spy image of a test mule has surfaced online. While the entire motorcycle looks quite similar to the current model, the test bike is fitted with a new 2x1 exhaust setup.

Since this could be the initial development stage, the muffler of the 2x1 exhaust setup is not well finished and looks quite basic. The new arrangement is expected to be lighter than the twin exhausts that come with the current Interceptor 650.

Apart from the weight reduction, the new 2x1 exhaust setup might also bring some performance gains. The 649cc, parallel-twin engine of the current model is capable of producing 47 BHP and 52 Nm.

The 2x1 exhaust setup should also make manoeuvring the motorcycle easier, especially in tight parking spaces and heavy traffic. Along with the Interceptor 650, this new exhaust layout could also make its way into the Continental GT 650.

Hopefully TEC bring their price down or RE has an affordable cost for a direct fit to existing models. Good thing being, RE's 2 X 1 is BS6 unlike TEC

Might well be an aftermarket company testing the 2 into 1 exhaust. Looks highly uncharacteristic of Royal Enfield to be doing this.

But why with the red number plates, also seems the tank bag is carrying some measuring instruments.

Re: Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 with a 2x1 exhaust setup spied

RE should offer straight exhaust pipes for the INT 650 as well considering it's postioned as the more sensible 650. However, upswept exhaust suits the CGT 650 very well.

Glad that RE has started toying with the 2x1 exhaust design the current set up although looks glorious but are quite heavy and makes the 650 twins quite cumbersome in our crowded daily riding scenarios.

Just coming off another post in the 390 Adv section where a heavily camouflaged and modified 390 Adv was actually from turtletech, an aftermarket player into Rally towers and such.

When RE has not even launched alloy wheel for the Interceptor till date, a 2 * 1 exhaust seems far fetched.
