Indian Inventor's revolutionary device can turn any bicycle into a fast motorbike

Found this news very interesting, so sharing it here.

Quote:
Is it a bicycle? A motorbike? Nah, it's both, courtesy of an Indian inventor who is changing the game. Gursaurabh Singh has invented a device that "converts any cycle into an electric cycle in minutes."

The creator of Dhruv Vidyut Electric Conversion Kit (DVECK), Singh believes the invention has the potential to revolutionise India. About 58% of daily commuters in India depend on classic Indian cycles that are rather slow and make long travels difficult.

The founder of Dhruv Vidyut, Singh's YouTube channel claims that the device "will upgrade a [bicycle] to a motor and battery-powered electric cycle."

The device fits snugly in the body of a bicycle, helping cycles reach top speeds of 26 kilometres per hour. It can also manage up to 170 kg of payload with a range of 40 kilometres.

In the clip below, Singh is showing the strength of the device, which can keep bicycles running even on extremely muddy roads. In addition, the converter is fireproof and waterproof as well!

The convertor essentially turns a classic bicycle into a makeshift motorbike. Boasting a bolt-on fit, the tech requires no welding, cutting, or modifications to work with a bicycle. On the handle, there is an ignition switch, a battery indicator, and a throttle!

Built entirely from aluminium, the convertor device has a charger inlet not only for the device but also for your electronics. NO electricity? No worries - simply pedal on. According to Singh, 20 minutes of pedalling charges 50% battery.

Currently, there are 8 crore bicycles and rickshaws running across India and Singh is on a mission to make their commute easier and faster with DVECK. "This invention is compatible with every single one of them," Singh's YouTube channel claims.

Looks good! He should have come on Shark Tank! I think this invention will find buyers especially people in rural areas where they travel long distances. I wish him all the success with his invention.

If this actually does what it claims to be able to do, which well might be the case, then this is a simple affordable Indian solution to an Indian need. It would improve travelling productivity for millions by a significant degree. Sometimes the simplest solutions tailored for the state of being of the masses are the most effective. It reminds me of the time in China when Mao Ze Dong brought two tools into the hands of each Chinese - for each citizen, the humble bicycle and for each construction worker the wheel barrow. More power to this entrepreneur. More useful to society than the so called unicorns consuming zillions of $ capital to run immense loss making businesses.

Now this is innovation at the grass roots. Don't know how accurate the stats are, but taking them on face value, there is a while lot of potential, if the product is reasonably priced.

I have some doubts about the pedal to charge concept. For the battery to be charged, one has to pedal at a certain minimum rpm to generate enough voltage from the alternator to charge the battery. To charge to 50% one has to pedal steadily and fast enough for 20 mins. I see a challenge there. Otherwise, a very good product.

Have to commend the inventor on the simplicity of the video as well. It's self explanatory, unlike a lot of startups who make promotional videos, half of which isn't even understandable by its target audience.

Looks damn good.

I suspect he will find many companies lining up to challenge him on potential infringements of their intellectual property - possible hindrance to commercialization. Hope the impressed Anand Mahindra will provide the inventor with necessary support towards successful commercialization.

Taking this at face value, this is revolutionary. What could be the price of such device, any idea? Can this be under Rs 2000? At more it will be pricey and subject to theft. 13mm Aluminium is priced at Rs 180/kg wholesale. No idea about other costs.
Sadly what I have seen so far from these novelty projects are that they are gimmicks. Fresh labourers, unwearied students, Imagine the number of lives it can change.

If this is achievable, it's a remarkable feat. And it will change the mobility spectrum. The best part I liked is that it can be charged by pedalling too. Marvellous.

Mr. Anand Mahindra and Mr. Pankaj Munjal are try to get in touch with him.

re: Indian Inventor's revolutionary device can turn any bicycle into a fast motorbike

There have been videos where "Cordless Drill Machine" is hooked up to power the Bicycle. This is another innovative approach to ease ride. However, sale of Bicycles in India is already at a decline, shunning it as an outdated mode of transportation. Would the idea be really taken up commercially by commuters is doubtful.
