BMW G 310 RR launched in India, priced from Rs 2.85 lakh - Rs 2.99 lakh

BMW Motorrad India has released an official teaser of its upcoming G 310 RR sports bike. It will be launched on July 15, 2022.

The teaser image reveals the bike’s tail section, which looks similar to the TVS Apache RR 310. That being said, it could get a different front-end design and fairing.

Given that the G 310 RR will be based on the Apache RR 310, the bike will be powered by the same 313cc engine that puts out 34 BHP @ 9,700 rpm and 27.3 Nm @ 7,700 rpm. It will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox and could get multiple riding modes.

What’s the point in teasing the rear of the bike when it looks exactly the same as its essential cousin? I hope this one isn’t a dud like the naked BMW….

This was supposed to release a couple of months back and the folks at the Okhla service center at Delhi were even planning for the event (at Buddh International Circuit, Noida) - but I suppose the plan got postponed.

Now I understand !! Had noticed 2-3 test mules near Hosur in Mar or so - since the bike looked exactly like the RR310 (camouflaged), was thinking what updates are they bringing in. Don't think even the front was any different, I'd I recollect the front view

re: BMW G 310 RR launched in India, priced from Rs 2.85 lakh - Rs 2.99 lakh

I'm guessing there probably won't be any significant mechanical differences either. If there is, it's probably going to be making a handful of horses more. I mean, is there anything left to do on the RR310 besides increasing horsepower?

In case there's no mechanical changes, BMWs probably releasing it in the indian market just for shits and giggles to see how many suckers they can hook just by changing the badge and charging more.

Because this is probably made with the export market in mind. There's no TVS presence in major first-world countries, correct me if I'm wrong. No point making a different design to differentiate it from TVS if it's not even going to sell alongside TVS where it matters in the first place.

Anyway, TVS Apache RTR310 and Apache 310GS confirmed?

If and when they do release this, we'll know truly how much that badge is worth. We'll know with the release of the RR itself in fact.

As it stands with all its capabilities RR310 itself is close to a dud, now BMW wants to make sure that in this avatar it gets the distinction on a bike that sells in single digit numbers in a month.

They could not even get a new tail design for gods sake, absolutely ridiculous.

Public perspective of the BMW G 310 platform is fixated as an entry level product from a luxury brand, but compare it to the segment it caters to i.e., 2.5 to 3 Lakhs and it is a clear winner.
It is for the class of riders just wanting a premium product / a leisure bike, not a hooligan or tech infused complication, it offers best in class ergonomics(seat height and comfort), welds & paint quality, child parts that are shared with their top bikes, and the design is typical BMW silhouette.

I for myself made an informed decision, discounting the brand value it offers, and am in awe of it.

As for the new G 310RR teaser I just hope BMW differentiates it well enough, for the inevitable price premium they will charge. Cause only a rebadge will not sway the public, as the current RR310 is already a notch below the G 310 sheer quality wise.

This reminds me of Suzuki - Toyota collaboration

Perhaps, the first step towards sharing or rebadging bikes from TVS to BMW! RR310 is a neat looking bike & only their livery will make it look good. Nothing else!

Wasn’t there some non-compete agreement or is it over now? I don’t care about bmw 310RR but would be very interested to see a TVS 310 adv. Lesser initial and parts/service cost with similar abilities will be sweet

Fully agreed with all your points, and a great riposte to my rather juvenile post that clearly didn't look at all angles. I've been looking at the 310R myself (not so much the GS, which doesn't suit my needs quite as much) and I have to admit- it is the only premium product that is making me reconsider all my choices.

This has made me hopeful of more 310 products from TVS as well, since the whole gentlemen's agreement theory of not using the same motorbike styles within the platform now doesn't hold water. An RTR 310 would be absolutely stellar, so pretty please TVS?

Most of us are thinking the same thing
Where is the TVS 310 ADV? We all want one. Only TVS is left to enter the ADV segment, and what better than the 310. I am sure it will sell like hot cake.

TVS has already joined hands with Petronas, and they are going to participate in the INSC and INRC. A rally bike will surely join the TVS arsenal.

I didn't know this. I was under the impression the bikes were almost completely made in India by TVS and its suppliers, except maybe things like the electronic components. Could you point out which parts are shared with the bigger BMWs?

Could you say what exactly you mean by this? I haven't had a close look at the BMW bikes. And, again, I was under the impression TVS didn't cut corners on the RR310, atleast the 2021 model.

I went and had a look at the 2022 RR310 yesterday, and hated the creaking plastic fairing. Looked like it wouldn't last the distance, although members who have owned one for any period of time can confirm or deny. My 7 year old P220 seemed to have better fairing and tank quality. The bike is beautiful to look at though. Some comparisons between the G310R and the RR310 also cite the fairing creakiness and vibrations as the main negatives of the RR compared to the G, with the former punching back by offering way more features for the price (ride by wire with modes, bluetooth, colour TFT display with way more info, better tyres, insane suspension and rider triangle customization with BTO etc)
