Matter Energy electric bike with 4-speed gearbox unveiled

Didn't find a relevant thread, so posting here. There's a new firm named 'Matter' who just launched a geared & Liquid cooled EV motorbike.

Matter Energy has unveiled its first electric motorcycle. Interestingly, this e-bike comes with a 4-speed gearbox and dual-channel ABS.

The Matter e-bike features a sporty street bike design with LED lights all around, split seats, clip-on handlebars and a split rear grab rail. The tank area houses a 5-litre glovebox that includes a charging socket as well.

The bike comes equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen instrument console that offers features like turn-by-turn navigation, notification alerts and music playback. It also supports over-the-air (OTA) updates.

The bike uses a 10.5 kW electric motor that has a torque output of 520 Nm. It is hooked up to a 4-speed gearbox. Powering the e-bike is a 5 kWh liquid-cooled battery that is said to offer a range of 125-150 km on a single charge. The company claims that it takes 5 hours to charge the battery using a 5A household socket.

I love motorcycles, but a geared electric motorcycle is pointless IMO. What's the point of having a gearbox, when

You can have the max torque output from zero rpm itself
Get the same range despite having a gearbox(I believe batteries still get depleted when you put them at a constant speed or rpm, unlike ICE where doing so gives you more mileage)
Reduce weight without a gearbox

These were some points I could think of. But I guess it's ride it to believe it to see what difference a gearbox makes on an EV.

The torque figure seems misleading. 520 Nm is huge, might launch the bike in orbit. Guess it would be 52.0 Nm (which is still quite a lot)

Yes, definitely misleading. Some quote the torque at wheel with all the ratios from motor/engine to transmission to sprocket. Or could be a simple typo.

Somehow the overall silhouette looks like the the model from Tork motors.
