USA: Honda electric bike previewed via design sketches

Honda America is said to have released an image of what appears to be an electric motorcycle. The new electric model is said to be part of Honda's future plans, which include ten new electric bikes and scooters.

As seen from the image, the Honda electric motorcycle carries forward a design similar to the brand's CB350R and the newly launched CB750 Hornet. The naked streetfighter look of the motorcycle brings with it an angular front section and a tapered rear end. The image also showcases the battery pack in the centre, replacing the IC engine. Although not clear, the motorcycle is also said to get disc brakes all around and USD forks at the front.

Being just a design sketch, the final product, expected to arrive in a few years, could look completely different. Honda is yet to officially reveal any details or the launch timeline of its electric two-wheeler offerings.

Currently the Performance Motorcycles with IC Engines have their own charm of riding.

There is fun in revving the Engine rpm feeling the vibrations and There is a thrill while overtaking, you downshift and do a quick over take. Above that the sound of the motorcycle adds an X-Factor to the overall package.

All these factors are going to be missed in Electric motorcycles.

So what is the desirable quotient left in a performance electric motorcycle or a simple motorcycle targeted to the mass audience (say Electric version of Pulsar 150) ? Atleast For entry level customers, preference will shift towards electric scooter because of more utility factor associated with it and the fun factor missing from the electric motorcycles.
