Keeway SR250 launched at Rs. 1.49 lakh

Keeway has launched the SR250 at the ongoing Auto Expo 2023. The retro-styled bike is priced at Rs. 1.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Keeway SR250 looks similar to the Kawasaki W175. It has a circular headlamp, a teardrop shaped fuel tank and a flat seat. The bike rides on wire-spoke wheels and features a chrome upswept exhaust.

The SR250 is powered by a 223cc, single-cylinder engine that makes 15.8 BHP @ 7,500 rpm and 16 Nm @ 6,500 rpm.

The bike is equipped with telescopic fork suspension at the front and dual shock absorbers at the rear. The brake setup consists of discs at both ends.

The number 223 reminded me of this beautiful motorcycle from yesteryear that made 17 Bhp & 18Nm Torque & yielded 45 Kmpl & could comfortably cruise in 100 Kmph all day long for over 500+ (some of them even 600 Km) Km in one full tank. Only concern, if it mattered, being Karizma was carb (atleast the one posted here) that enjoyed immense success unlike its successor Fi models.

Making an irrelevant post here so that, if at all anyone buys SR250, kindly compare to the motorcycle of yesteryear to see how it fairs. Tks.

223cc made me recall the Karizma too! They could have gotten away with 221cc, but now we cannot help but avoid a direct comparison, which also explicitly shows how much this 'retro' motorcycle is in the past.

With an unknown brand, shaky aftersales support and dubious country of origin, Keeway should have done much much more to even stand a chance with today's competition. Even 160cc offerings provide more power than this dated 223cc.

On paper atleast this seems a better choice than the kawasaki if it wasn't for the ASS and dealer issues of the Chinese brand. Both are experiments in my opinion that wont last long in the value conscious Indian market.

Sad how Hero screwed up that product line. Was a superb product.

They got too carried away with the Retro tag, seems like applied it to the Power Delivery too LOL

Exactly. Who would buy this bike, and why, are the two questions that leap immediately to mind after seeing this bike and its specs. Even if it is priced to undercut the competition severely, quality and after-sales service will be the primary considerations.

Re: Keeway SR250 launched at Rs. 1.49 lakh

People are missing the weight, the SR250 actually weighs just 120kgs which is a whopping 60-65 kgs lighter than the similarly priced RE Hunter Metro, while making close to 16hp, 4hp less than Hunter.

This thing is closer in weight to the RX100 which weighed 105kg and has better power to weight ratio than the Hunter and even RX100.

With its lightweight and power to weight ratio the SR250 might actually be the best "scrambler" in the market and should be a hoot to ride. Will definitely take a test ride when possible.
