Harley-Davidson's first 350cc model details leaked via type approval documents

Harley-Davidson has been working on a lower-displacement offering for the global market for a long time. Now, details of the brand's entry-level motorcycle have been revealed via its Type Approval Documents.

Filed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the documents highlight that the upcoming Harley-Davidson will come with a 353cc parallel-twin cylinder engine. A similar type approval document for the motorcycle was also released in China, confirming that the motorcycle will go on sale in both these markets.

The document by NHTSA shows that the new 350cc entry-level Harley-Davidson will be offered in three variants: X350, X350RA and X350RA Derating Removed. All three variants will be powered by the same engine producing around 36 BHP. However, reports suggest the X350RA Derating Removed trim is said to get a slightly de-tuned version with a power output of 23 BHP. The document also confirmed that the motorcycle complies with all the strict emission regulations.

The 353cc parallel-twin, powering the upcoming Harley already does duties on a number of motorcycles in Benelli and QJMotor's lineup.

While details of the 350cc Harley-Davidson coming to India is yet to be confirmed, the motorcycle could be manufactured in the country. As per the type approval document, the company is looking to manufacture its small-displacement models outside its home market of the US.

This motorcycle is as much a Harley-Davidson as this car below is an Aston Martin .

Hopefully, at least this accountant-designed "Harley" should be given a 270 degree crank in its parallel twin for a somewhat decent exhaust note.

In India Motorcycle above 350cc attract a higher insurance premium

Hope they will know down the engine to 349cc

This is the reason why RE350 engines are 346cc in actual

Meanwhile waiting for the 149cc Commuter Harley
