Thank you Boni for the heads-up. I will try connecting with this person. Any idea if it's a genuine person and if the panels are genuine?

The side panels and the tank are of a different shade right? I think the side panels are of the original colour. I might be having pictures of blue AX100s, if I find some I'll post them here later.

As per the owner, the fork covers are of the original color. The panels are the plastic ones and i think they are of a different color. Would love to see photos of the blue AX100 if you have.

New seats/foams do come up for sale now and then. Even back home in WB, when I wanted to get a supra style seat made with a samurai foam, I placed an order at a local shop and he messed up the order and got a max100 seat for me (brand new). So these are still available, albeit non OEM of course. If I see any new leads I'll let you know.

I agree with you, it's a gamble giving these seats to a local guy. I am trying to get hold of the original seat - but not able to find any genuine guy. Let me know if you get any leads.

Update on the AX100

The bike is due for it's passing / fitness next month. And I have already gone ahead and made the payments online (registration renewal and environment tax). The procedure was very simple.

Navigating to the Vahan portal
1. Go to the Vahan portal

2. Select the Vehicle Registration Number option, click the checkbox and then click Proceed.


3. You will receive a pop up window. Read through the message and then click Proceed.




Environment Tax / Green Tax payment
4. You will come to this page. Click on the options menu - > Services -> Tax / Fee Services - > Pay your Environment Tax / Green Tax

You may have to click the Submit button twice if the page doesn't refresh. Also, if your registered mobile is not updated, you will first have to update your mobile number on Vahan against your vehicle.



6. You will be directed to a page where you will be prompted for the last 5 digits of your Chassis number.



7. You will then be taken to a page where you will find your vehicle owner details. If you scroll down, you will find a table where in you will need to select the Environment /Green Tax mode. The only option available is "LumSum 5 year". Once you select, it will update the applicable green tax along with any penalties due.


8. Click on Payment Collection Details and go ahead with the payment

Renewal of Registration or Fitness Certificate
9. Follow Steps 1-3

10. 4. You will come to this page. Click on the options menu - > Services -> Vehicle Related Services - > Application for Fitness Certificate


11. You will receive a pop up consisting mandatory checks that will be performed by the RTO for fitness.
Tick the checkbox and click Proceed.


12. You will be directed to a page where you will be prompted for the last 5 digits of your Chassis number.


13. Once you proceed, you will be taken to a page showing you the amount you need to pay for the renewal of your registration (sorry I don't have a screenshot since I already made a payment).

14. Click on Payment Collection Details and go ahead with the payment

When you print this receipt, do also print Form 25 along with it ( it will be an auto generated from)

The next step is then to take an appointment with your respective RTO to complete the formalities of producing all the documents (RC Book/Card, Insurance, PUC, ID Proof, Receipts of all the payments made, 4 copies of Chassis imprints). You will be then asked to upload all these copies onto the Vahan Portal for them to verify. Please note you will also be prompted to upload a photo of the bike (front and rear showing the registration number).

Once done you will then need to produce the bike in front of the inspecting officer who will check the bike (mainly the chassis number, registration number, vehicle color, electricals, lights, turn signal, horn etc) and then give the go ahead.

That's it - a month later, you will receive your updated RC Card.

Hope you find this information useful. I am not sure of time, but this will definitely save you a lot of money.

To give an example, the complete transfer of ownership process cost me only 400 bucks on my own.

• Registration renewal - Rs 1658 (which includes the below)

That's a beauty you got there, Congratulations. original rear shocks are so rare to see nowadays. did you manage to find the original KOITO headlight?

Thanks Justin, yes I wanted to keep it as original as possible - hence retainer the original rear shocks. They are soft and bouncy, so lets see, I may decide to replace them with RX ones and keep these aside.

I don't think the headlights are the Koito ones - but these are original Suzuki AX100 ones which I sourced from the US (the AX100 2 stroke is still manufactured in Brazil).

Sunday, 5th Feb 2023 - A very close friend was down from Canada on vacation. Since it was a Sunday and I was at home, we decided to take a walk in our locality just like the good old days.

It was just supposed to be a short night walk. And this is what we came across. You can read the rest of the story here.

Sunday, 4th Feb 2024 - Exactly a year later, today!

When the AX restoration was complete, I had sent my friend a pic of the bike and he sent it to the original owner (first owner). This is the message I got back.


We decided to show him the bike today. And it was such an emotional moment. He was so happy to see the bike in the same condition that he has bought it in. The first owner had the bike from 1984 to 2018. Since age had caught up with him, he decided to sell the bike to my friend (who resided in the same building) - with the condition that he wouldn't sell the bike.

It was nice talking to the owner about his memories on the bike. He has purchased it in 1984 when the bike was first introduced in India. The bike was available at only one dealership in Maharashtra, Mumbai (don't remember which one). As per what was told to them, the first batch of motorcycles were imported / CBU units. A handful of them (probably 2-3) were ultra rare models which came with the LED gear indicator. And then this one which were also CBU units but without the gear indicator and Ind-Suzuki tank emblem (around 7-10 pieces).

He also mentioned that the launch was a ceremony where Sunil Gavaskar who was the Chief Guest had handed over the keys to the owners (Behram Sir being one of them). I have asked him if he has any more details or photos of that event. Will keep you guys posted.

We spoke in length for almost an hour, took a lot of photos, he also took a small ride. I am happy that he was happy to see his first motorcycle. I am also happy that his motorcycle is still close to where he stays, so whenever he wishes to, he can see it.

Finally the fitness test for the AX100 was completed today. I wanted to do this by myself without an agent because I had heard that this was a very simple process. As I had mentioned in my previous post, the fitness was due last September. Since the bike was not in a condition to pass the fitness test, I only went ahead with the payment process (which includes the below).

The only problem was with doing it by yourself is that you have to go to the RTO, submit all the documents and then upload all the documents into the Vahan portal, wait in line to show the documents to the senior officer and then take the bike for inspection. Even if you finish all these tasks early, the inspection only happens post 2 P.M. which means your entire day is wasted. On top of it, I think the RTO does not perform these activities in Saturday. So I decided to get hold of an agent to get the papers submitted and book an appointment. Went in at 2 as per the appointment and was out by 2:40.
