Re: Fast Single to a Smooth Twin | KTM Adventure 390 to Royal Enfield Interceptor 650

Had some free time over the weekend. Too bad for the wallet.

Ordered the Deluxe Touring Seat, official accessory for the INT 650.
Ordered from Amazon, delivered within 48 hours I guess.

Comparison, the new Deluxe Touring Seat Vs. the add-on touring seat which I booked via MIY, when I ordered my motorcycle.

The seat is ugly to look at. Cannot deny it one bit. But it is so much more comfortable. Difference is felt instantly once you swing a leg. For the pillion especially, this seat is a game changer. From I won't come along, to please bring the bike. That kind of change. (Just with regards to the seat comfort)

A side profile shot, to reveal how it ruins the overall aesthetics. I do not like the way it looks one bit. But I will live with it, because I am so much more happier on the go, and that time, I can't see the seat.

I had to bring back the sissy bar, because it improved the overall look from the rear end. Who would have thought, that bringing back a sissy bar would make things better in the looks department.

Will take it for a long ride soon, and share overall experience on the saddle. So far, so good. Have retained the old touring seat, would probably use it as a overly soft padded pillow at home.

Re: Fast Single to a Smooth Twin | KTM Adventure 390 to Royal Enfield Interceptor 650

Hello, owners of the RE Interceptor 650, if one was looking for buying a pre-owned interceptor, can you please let me if this RR unit issue was present only in 2023 model onwards or was it there since beginning?

Can you share me your valuable suggestions and thoughts on the major issues one needs to look out for in a pre-owned interceptor please???

Thanks in advance.

It has always been an issue and continues to be one as far as I know. The placement of the RR unit is to blame, mine has been replaced 3 times in the last 5 years.

Re: Fast Single to a Smooth Twin | KTM Adventure 390 to Royal Enfield Interceptor 650

The bike has refused to start again, as of last night onwards. I removed the aux too, a month ago almost. Just don't understand what else to do. 3rd battery in place. RR has been replaced. Only the RE tripper is being used.

I maintain my vehicles is top order, but this one just likes to DIE! I am at a point where I seriously wonder if it is worth it to suffer so much. I would rather sell this and get myself a Z650RS or something, because I want a modern classic.

Seeking advice, serious advice.

Peace of mind is priceless parrys, not worth this nuisance all the time.

You had the itch, scratched it, now sell off the headache and get a Z or anything else your heart desires.

Cheers

I have been reading your thread from the beginning. You have done the maximum that anyone could have done. Dispose of the bike and buy whatever will give you happiness. Life is short, dear friend, to go through such ordeals.

Cheers

Is the charging voltage alright? Did they check the health of the stator coil and it's output?

Today was the first time that I was offered help from RE, regional team. Going to give it one last shot, and a full & final check. If resolved, I would be very happy. I really love my motorcycle. I literally wanted to keep this one as a grew old.

But if things do not work out, and these problems show up one more time, THAT'S IT!

@b16h22 I am hoping they check each & every bolt this time. Voltage and what not, they have checked every single time.

I hope you get the issue solved. The Interceptor is a beautiful motorcycle when all is good. I get a smile every time I ride my bike. All the best.

This is a typical RE ownership experience, we ride them not because the RE product is excellent but mostly we have fallen in love with our bikes. Owning one for 17 years and counting, just now I got introduced to "luxury" in terms of the overall experience with my KTM 390 Adv S. However even then I plan to retain my Bullet and ride it at least once in a week.

But I have no doubt if the parking space is not there for my 3 vehicles, which one has to go !! Hopefully RE fixes your bike, it looks so great in the black you can't take your eyes off it.

I believe - each to his own of course and one’s own threshold of accepting pain or nuisance. Our bikes are there for our pleasure and should serve us at all times. If this does not happen and we are serving our bikes, as in frequent visits to the service centre for niggles and what not then it’s time to say good bye to that machine.

Cheers

Re: Fast Single to a Smooth Twin | KTM Adventure 390 to Royal Enfield Interceptor 650

For the first time ever, I have left a two-wheeler at a facility overnight.
This is my 9th two-wheeler, and none of them were left at a service centre because I don't trust them handling it with care. Overburdened & crowded service centres pose a high risk of scratching the bike.
I even bought a brand new bike cover, and gave it to them when I dropped the motorcycle. Hope they used it.

Anyway, had no choice.

This time, I approached Royal Enfield, and they have sent one of their technicians to look into the matter.

The bike is being checked at the same service centre, where it has been handled since day 1.

I hope, this issue is long gone after they try all that they can & know.

Re: Fast Single to a Smooth Twin | KTM Adventure 390 to Royal Enfield Interceptor 650

The bike remains parked at the service centre.
I gave them a cover, which is placed over the bike.

I did not go and inspect the bike yet, because I did not want to see what I don't want to see.

Parts have not arrived yet.

As per what I am told, they are going to replace the entire wiring on the motorcycle, as they have detected some leaks.

Delivery of the bike to me, no timeline shared yet. (Could be possible by or before Sunday)

Hopefully your issue gets resolved with this fix - it could work.

If it doesn’t then perhaps it’s time to bid farewell to the headache and buy something which lifts your spirits.

Cheers

IndiMotard figured it for me. It turned out that the mobile charger was drawing a current even with the bike switched off. They took 3-4 days to figure but eventually did. Get a competent independent mech.

PS: If they replace the entire harness, just make sure that everything works fine when you take delivery.

Cheers,

Jay
