Re: 2024 KTM Duke 390 Review

Puig now has the windscreen for the Duke 390/250 on their website, but I'm not sure how to get it in India.

Re: 2024 KTM Duke 390 Review

Is the adjustment range of the clutch lever less than that of the front brake lever? I'm not getting the same range of motion and dont see any videos online.

Edit: the clutch adjuster doesn't have the metalic clicker ring too(notched ring). Is this how it is supposed to be?

That's the same in mine too. I think it's because of how they operate. The clutch lever is operated by a cable, so it might need a minimum distance to function properly.

I had the same one. Removed it after a month or so. It was wobbling like a steel scale and was too distracting. The wind blast reduction also was not that significant.

Mine also started rusting within a month and im not near a sea coast.

All in all i wouldnt recommend it.

Where can I find the user manual for the d390 gen 3? The owners manual tab on the ktm app just redirects to the ktm india website.

Re: 2024 KTM Duke 390 Review

Hello everyone, I'm returning home from my trip to Ladakh (and some parts of North India) on my Duke. Posting some pictures here for your viewing pleasure

Somewhere in Madhya Pradesh during the start of the trip

On the way from Padum to Leh

Guess where this one is from?

I must say I'm extremely satisfied by the performance and the experience riding this little Duke. The adjustable suspension proved its worth. My trip is now close to 6000 kilometres and counting. Overall, the odometer reads 23000 kilometres.

I had a major service done at the 21000 kilometres mark.
1. Got the brake pads replaced at both ends (sintered for front and organic for the rear)
2. Spark plug was also replaced

Kudos to the folks at KTM Chandigarh (Industrial Area Phase II) for finishing the service and returning the bike in almost an hour.

Since you have had a long term experience with the bike, what is your preferred suspension setup for various scenarios? Also what is your weight for reference?

I am currently running a 4 click rebound, 3 click compression setting for my daily commute that gives a decent compression feel and less aggressive rebound over potholes.

I don't have a daily commute but when I'm at home, I run the same suspension setup as you do. If I'm out on the highway, I set that up to 3 click compression and 3 click rebound, the standard setup. 5 and 5 when offroading.

The last time I checked, please don't ask me when, I tipped the scales at 69 kg.

Re: 2024 KTM Duke 390 Review

Cheers to your successful trip mate.
It would be really helpful if you could give a detailed itinerary from your home town to ladakh and back.
Did you feel the lack of a windscreen on your Duke?

Is it true? if not how bad are the vibes on this compared to the older models?
I think KTM has addressed this in the current models. I bought the Gen 3 in April, 2024 and have completed close to 6000km on the bike and have had no problems with the mirrors or any other parts for that matter, so far.

But you are right, the sweet spot for this bike is above 5k RPM.
Between 3000 and 5000 RPM, the bike vibes a lot at the handlebar and the footpegs. Wearing gloves and riding boots does help alleviate that though.

Hi,

I had a windshield installed on my Gen-3 within the first month of purchase. It has been 6 months now with 6000km on the clock and the difference with and without the windshield is night and day.

For ex: I did a short 180km ride to Statue of Unity and back (from Vadodara) and did the same route after I got the windshield installed.

Without the shield, above 80kmph, there is a lot of windblast on the chest and abdomen area directly and even onto the shoulders. When riding for more than 1 hour straight, you will start feeling this strain on your lower back and arms as you tend to grip on to the bike tighter than usual.

Once the shield was on, I could cruise well above 100kmph without any of the aforementioned strains. This did increase the wind noise coming onto the helmet, but when you wear earplugs, they manage to do a good job of not letting that be a bother.

The one I got installed is from Motocare and costed about 2k and has done its job really well so far.

Personally, I also felt that it adds more appeal to the bike and gives it a GT feel aesthetically.

Re: 2024 KTM Duke 390 Review

Thanks for the valuable info. Indeed your Duke looks hunky with the windshield. Does your turn by turn navigation work? I have asked ktm svc here multiple times but they hav no idea about it. They navigation icon itself isn't active on my Duke 's screen.

The navigation Icon comes on after you pair and connect the phone with bluetooth. Do that first. Next add the bike to the ktm connect app using the vin number. While doing this make sure that you have the settings->connectivity screen open on your dash. A simple set of instructions later you should be paired. If I remember correctly there's a sync button in the ktm connect app that needs to be tapped on.
