Thank you @dipdawiz - This really helped me submitting my Dad's scooty for Scrapping it the right way. i have struggled in last 6 months to reach out to Scrapping the scooter adhering to the rules by visiting multiple times RTO and your detailed post really helped me in submitting the form online. Again Humble thanks to Teambhp forum and dipawiz for detailed guidance on this.

That is not FIR, it is GD (General Diary), made online. Like other GD, I think, no active action is taken by police on a GD. It's common process - to apply for duplicate RC (or any other lost govt ID like voter ID) you need a GD from a police station. It's just informing police that one lost their document/article and they acknowledge that they got the info.

Re: I scrapped my motorcycle in Bangalore | Procedure & documentation explained

I tried doing this last year, but with my TN-07 2007 bike that has been lying unused since 2018 in KA I haven't followed up on any documentation I was largely unsucessful.

When I initiated this, it said I needed to terminate the hypothecation as I didn't bother getting this done back then as I had changed cities. Before I can terminate the hypothetication, I need to complete the FC and RC renewal. Then get hypothecation terminated and then I can go for scrapping.

As much as I have an emotional attachment to the bike, it is time to let go rather than let it gather dust in my family's parking as I am not in the country and I don't think I want to spend 15-20K to get it back to life.

Is there any way to fast track this process?

For reference -
TN 07 Bike
Hypothetication was with ICICI in Chennai as well (loan ended in 2008)
Bike is lying parked in KA
And bike is not mobile, will be a HUGE task to get it into running condition as many critical parts will need replacement that have stopped being manufactured since 2013-15.

Re: I scrapped my motorcycle in Bangalore | Procedure & documentation explained

Sorry I couldn't edit my previous post in time, but I have a 2005 Honda Dio as well that is lying unused that I would like to scrap. For this I dont have the issues like I do for the motorcycle and on the Parivahan form I see the following options -

I scrapped my motorcycle in Bangalore | Procedure & documentation explained-parivahan.jpg

Looks like I have no scrapping facilities in or near Pune. Can I select any of the other listed faciilities? And I have to select an authorized representative name and contact details. I guess I should make first contact with Cero to give me these details?

Yes, please check directly with cero, they should be able to help. Otherwise, contact the nearest one from the list, get the contact number by some google search.

Explained it here (I scrapped my motorcycle in Bangalore | Procedure & documentation explained). And value is upto you, how much you think is fair and want to trade it for. Even I gave it for couple of thousands but got offer for less than thousand. So withdrew the trade. If you accept the offer and buyer actually buys the CD; you would be paid the amount directly, into your bank account.

I am also not sure about the process to utilised the CD while buying new vehicle and how much benefit we can get. There are some policy for ex-showroom price discount plus road tax discount, but nothing clear.

Excellent thread. Pretty convenient way to legally scrap your old vehicle. After reading, I connected with Cero and below is the response I got from the chat bot. Is there any Team BHPian from Mumbai who has scrapped their two wheeler?

If you can get 4-6% off on Ex-Showroom price & 25% off on Road Tax it makes sense if you want to buy a bike costing over 10L. It may even be cheaper buying and old 2nd hand 100 cc bike from someone and scrapping it to avail this benefit.
Hopefully like NCB it should not matter what bike you are scrapping and what you rebuking.

Just keep it and look for valid papers of some other bike and use.

All you have to do is tell them to get it transferred to their name and only then handover to them.

Re: I scrapped my motorcycle in Bangalore | Procedure & documentation explained

Thank you @dipdawiz for your detailed post.

My bike got picked up today in Bangalore. The whole process took about a week.

Context:
It had a Maharashtra number plate, however I had taken NOC for my hometown 13 years ago but never registered it there. After covid when I started thinking about selling my bike, I came to know that I would be required to get my NOC cancelled and do the paperwork in the orginial RTO or pay a huge fine(Rs. 500 × months since NOC issued) for registering in my hometown.
Second option didn't make sense, and for the first option I even collected the NOC non-utilisation certificate from the RTO in my hometown. However, the trip back to Maharashtra never materialized. I also realized my bikes resale value wouldn't cover the costs. So I was just waiting for the registration to get over and then find out some scrapping agency.

My registration got over this April. And when I googled few weeks back I stumbled upon your post.

What a relief !!!!!!!!

Hey, thanks for the info. I also scrapped my car in Delhi via a Registered Scrap Facility(RVSF), not from CERO, they were quoting very low amount. I got COD(Certificate of Deposit) and CVS(Cetificate of Vehicle Scrapping). But no RTO confirmation letter or RC surrender letter. Did you get any of them later on? Do i have to ask the RVSF about it or approach RTO? Any info will be helpful.

In my bike's case the registration was over already and lost, so nothing to surrender. When I asked about documents from RTO, they(Cero) said only COD will be given, no other document. Once it is scrapped data would be updated in RTO system, thats it.

Re: I scrapped my motorcycle in Bangalore | Procedure & documentation explained

Thank you dipdawiz for this wonderful information. I successfully scrapped my 15 years old pulsar 180 in Bangalore whose registration was MH. RC expired Nov 2024 and engine failed seized one month before that. I have received the COD from CERO and now planning to hold it for some time. Please do update here if you managed to sell your COD and at what price.

Post scrapping benefits are disappointing to say the least. The auction of COD highest bid I got is 500/-. And regarding road tax benefit or discount of ex-showroom so far no two wheeler dealers, my friend and I contacted (Honda, Hero, Yamaha, RE), could give an answer. None of them heard of any process like that and said no discount on ex-showroom. My friend dropped a mail to some of the brand also about it, response was to check with dealer. So nothing in that front.

So anyone scrapping their vehicle should keep in mind that it would just help you get rid of the vehicle not any benefit post scrapping.

Anyone else got any of the benefits please let us know the process or what you did to get them.

Re: I scrapped my motorcycle in Bangalore | Procedure & documentation explained

Hi @dipdawiz, thank you so much for elaborating on the scrapping procedure. I am in a similar boat as in have a Delhi registered Scooter that will be completing its 15 years in April. I got it down to Bangalore last year but don't want to deal with the hassle of de-registering in Delhi and re-registering in Bangalore. Nor do I think the costs will be worth it. The scooter itself is running absolutely fine and I have only done about 15k kilometres on it till date.

I have been thinking of scrapping it and going for a new one. Coincidentally, I have my eyes on the Aerox too (or a Maxi scooter). While the idea of scrapping the vehicle with a formal process is great, at the moment, it doesn't make sense to go for it other than to free up some space in the garage. The utter lack of any advantages for trading the CD with a new vehicle is disappointing. Hope there is some improvement soon.
