Kawasaki W175 prices slashed by Rs 25,000; starts at Rs 1.22 lakh

Kawasaki has reduced the prices of the standard W175 in India by Rs 25,000. The bike is now priced between Rs 1.22 lakh and Rs 1.31 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the colour.

Speaking of colours, the W175 is now available in two new colour options: Metallic Ocean Blue and Metallic Graphite Grey, priced at Rs 1.31 lakh and Rs 1.29 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively. The bike is also available in Ebony and Persimmon Red shades.

The Kawasaki W175 is a retro-style motorcycle powered by a 177cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine. It produces 12.9 BHP @ 7,500 rpm and 13.2 Nm @ 6,000 rpm. It is fitted with telescopic forks at the front and dual shock absorbers at the rear. It gets a single disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear.

Kawasaki recently launched the W175 Street at the India Bike Week 2023. It is priced at Rs 1.35 lakh (ex-showroom).

The pricing finally makes some sense but the bike still doesn't. It looks too much like an old Bajaj Boxer 150 to have any kind of aspirational value. Since they have taken the effort to bring this platform to India, it should've been the W175TR in the first place. This variant of the W175 at least has a sort of cool retro scrambler vibe to it. And feels more substantial as well.

Re: Kawasaki W175 prices slashed by Rs 25,000; starts at Rs 1.22 lakh

This is like the Classic era of late 80s when Japanese (Japani) 4-stroke motorcycles invaded the Indian shores. Our uncles sold their family scooters for these mean (lean) machines!

Kawasaki could call this a, Kawasaki 4S (W175) Champion.

This seems a sweet machine and should find some interesting owners and is a perfect platform for a custom build.

Happy riding,

Why did you price this bike so high ?
Kawasaki : to slash it later

With so much resources and market analysis team working specifically to understand market, I wonder how companies get their product pricing wrong ?

Pricing now looks good for the engine specs on offer.

This reminds me of my Kbajaj Caliber (one with the round shaped headlight) from late 90s. Front looks skinny, probably, after adding a leg gaurd, it will give a heft to front look and some road presence.

From picture bike looks abuse friendly and seat looks to provide meaningful space for rider and pillion, which now a days is rarity. Though it looks a desirable vehicle for a family man who may want to upgrade from 110 or 125 cc bikes but needs practical and no nonsense bike, living in smaller town and cities where bikes are main stay for local travelling. But then Kawasaki have almost no presence in those regions.

That is what the Pulsar 150 is for.

There are 3 Pulsar 150s (OG, P150 & N150) and the N160 that is cheaper and more ubiquitous than this.

This is a good start but Kawasaki have been sleeping at the wheel for far too long and need to do a lot more work for this to become appealing. Now that they are under attack on the multi-cylinder front, maybe they will finally start to pull up their socks.

I think 25000 price deduction is for FY23 models. For 2024 models you have to shell out around 7-8K more.
