Hero MotoCorp has been working on a new bike based on the Harley-Davidson X440 platform and according to latest reports, it is likely to debut later this month.



It has been reported that Hero is set to unveil the Harley-based bike at the Hero World event, while media rides will be held in February.

Details of Hero’s upcoming model are scarce, but reports suggest that it could feature a completely different look compared to the X440. There’s also a possibility that it could be called ‘Hurikan 440’.

Hero’s new bike will be powered by the same 440cc single-cylinder oil-cooled engine as the X440. In its current spec, the engine produces 27 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 38 Nm @ 4,000 rpm.

Badge engineering the HDX440 will be lame, since it's already being sold through Hero dealerships. There's a rumour about a secret Xpulse 440 which will sit betwen Xpulse 210 and Xpulse 420 LC. It will be a direct competitor to Scram 411. I seriously hope that this is it

Seems like it's going to be off-road given its promotion teaser. The word trail seems to be a hint.

I think Hero did the smart job by transforming Karizma brand from a sports tourer to a high revving sports bike. XMR 210 is exactly something that the market needs right now.

HD 440's engine is a low end and midrange focussed long stroke unit, with just 6.5k rpm redline. Even if Hero somehow tuned the engine to suit Karizma, it'll be labelled as 'boring' by the mainstream media's and may end up meeting the same fate as FZ25, Pulsar 250 or CB300F : (

Are they selling anything, I for sure have not spotted one till now, or maybe it is exactly not what market needs right now atleast where I stay.

They sold 895 units in Nov 23, Dec figures are not out yet. So far I have spotted a few XMR's in Cochin. But just because we are unable to spot a model in our region doesn't mean it's not selling. All models don't sell the same pan India. Some states have strong demand for a particular product compared to other states. For eg. Xpulse sells the best in KL, Suzuki Access sells best in North East, etc. Let's see how the XMR fares this year!

I don't think tuning can go that far to change the nature of the engine totally, it's still going to have the same bore x stroke. They could change things like valve timings, maybe even the stroke with a shorter piston rod, and certainly with sprocketing and things like that, but I don't think that's going to be enough to make that platform at most more than a sport/power cruiser. I'd say it would be excellent for a chill ADV though, more like the Himalayan 411 if anything.

Exactly! Cost though might be somewhere in between the X440 and the Scram. Say about 2.25 for a base variant, perhaps.

Hero’s Harley X440-based bike could be called Mavrick 440

Hero MotoCorp is gearing up to debut a new bike based on the Harley-Davidson X440 platform later this month. The bike was initially expected to be called Hurkan 440, however, the latest rumours suggest that it could be named "Mavrick 440".



While the Mavrick 440 is expected to share its underpinnings with the Harley, some reports suggest that it might even get a different chassis. Unlike the X440, Hero’s version could feature a sporty look and might be positioned as a roadster.

The Hero Mavrick 440 will be powered by the same 440cc single-cylinder oil-cooled engine as the X440. In its current spec, the engine produces 27 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 38 Nm @ 4,000 rpm.

The Mavrick 440 will be unveiled at the Hero World event later this month. Media rides have been planned for February.

Hero Mavrick 400 spotted testing for the first time

There have been reports of Hero MotoCorp working on a new bike based on the Harley-Davidson X440. Now, a spy image of what is believed to be the rumoured 'Mavrick 440' have surfaced online.



As per this image, the Hero Mavrick 440 is likely to feature a circular LED headlamp with an H-shaped LED light signature. The test bike is equipped with bar-end mirrors and black alloy wheels.

Unlike the Harley, the Mavrick 440 could be positioned as a roadster. The test mule appears to have a different fuel tank with tank extensions and a revised riding position.

The Mavrick 440 is expected to use the same 440cc single-cylinder oil-cooled engine as the X440. In its current spec, the engine produces 27 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 38 Nm @ 4,000 rpm. It will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

This all looks good. My only issue right now is with the name- Mavrick? Calling it Maverick is bad enough in terms of how cliched it is, but then they did a numerology-esque number on it by removing the 'E'. I'd buy one just to remove the branding and call it a Hero X440.

Name apart, looks good, can't wait to see more detailed images.

What is the point in selling both HDX440 and Mavrick 440, both cruisers/roadsters, from the same dealerships? Won't it undermine the Harley? I hope HMC has significantly differentiated their thumper from the baby HD.

This looks nice & more proportional than the Harley twin, reminds me of Ducati Monster / Suzuki Gixxer. Its been a long time since Hero came up with a proper flagship product, nothing after the original CBZ & Karizma. They must be having high hopes on Mavrick 440!
