Austria-based Brixton Motorcycles has announced its entry into the Indian market. The company has partnered with KAW Veloce Motors to set up a manufacturing unit and a distribution network in the country.

Brixton plans to launch four models in India this year. The bikes are being developed at the brand’s Austrian design centre and will be manufactured at a new facility in Kolhapur, Maharashtra.

Brixton and the KAW Group also plan to set up a Research and Development (R&D) centre in India. It will focus on developing products for the Indian market. India will also serve as an export for Southeast Asia and Africa in the future.

Brixton Motorcycles is looking to build an expansive dealer network across major Indian cities. The company plans to launch 15 dealerships by end-2024 and expand its network to 50 by next year.

Brixton is gearing up to showcase its upcoming ADV motorcycle later this year, which could be the brand’s first offering for the Indian market. The company will initiate a marketing campaign ahead of the brand launch scheduled for later this year.

Brixton who?

The bike in the photo looks eerily similar to Java 42!

Re: Austria-based Brixton Motorcycles announces its India entry

Looks like another Western brand resurrected or created for Chinese vehicles to enter the market.

I am purely speculating on the basis of KAW-Veloce Motors India's history, so am more than happy to be corrected if not.

Re: Austria-based Brixton Motorcycles announces its India entry

To be very frank, I call myself a motorcycle enthusiast, but I have never heard of this company.
Anyways, checked out their range here:

https://www.brixton-motorcycles.com/models/

4 engine options:

125cc Single - 13.5Ps
250cc Single - 17Ps
500cc P-Twin - 47.6Ps
1200cc P-Twin - 83Ps

The 500cc market now has global appeal so it makes sense to build your bikes in the nation that builds the most volumes and the best quality (for the price) two wheelers in the world. Maybe they could find a market for their 1200s in India if they make it here.

It won't need earth shattering economics for them to be able to price it at par with Kawasaki 650s. Many RE 650 owners might eventually choose to upgrade to a 1200cc Parallel twin for a 6-digit price.

This is scary for Royal Enfield. I hope they can step up and take on this threat head-on.

Re: Austria-based Brixton Motorcycles announces its India entry

There is a parallel motorcycle Cinema going on in India which has been created by these never heard brands, few of which already closed and few are striving hard for their identity.
Even in Bangalore I have never seen any of them On-Road:

Example:
1) UM (Closed),
2) Regal Raptor (Closed),
3) Keeway,
4) CF Moto,
5) QJ Motor
6) Zontes
7) _ _

I hope Brixton does not end up in this list.

PS:
I think if TVS Ronin has Scrambler version, it will look the motorcycle shown in the Photo above.

4) CF Moto,
CF Moto is an extremely well known company, with some fantastic bikes, and is the OE manufacturer of choice for both Yamaha and KTM, for their middleweight to larger capacity bikes.

Cheers, Doc

Re: Austria-based Brixton Motorcycles announces its India entry

There isn't much history to this brand (source wiki). They started off with 125cc in 2015 and they already have a 1200cc model in their line up today. Am sure they are not designing these engines themselves. Takes deep pockets and a decade if not more. If so, question is who are they getting this tech from?

Also, some of their bikes seem to be replica of the Husky 250-400 we get in India and the triumph retro range.

Never heard of KAW or Veloce.

And based on all of the above, I think they are going to find it extremely tough to survive in India let alone compete with some of the well entrenched and globally accepted manufacturers who we are so used to.

If Benelli, CF Moto couldn't dent the market much, wonder what's the USP of Brixton. Though it's a cool sounding name!

On a high level, it looks like a threat, but I think the below are few key aspects to beat RE
1. Price
2. Network
3. Brand
Last but not the least - The emotion

Looks like these are made in china, even though it is Austria based. Reliability and durability will be of concern, initially.

Talking About Brixton- There was a news that Mahindra and BSA are Joining Hands. Maybe Brixton could have gone with a Major player in India as like their Austrian Counter parts. Hope they don't fall Flat.

All of them look hideous and seem to be designed by 10 year olds.

Out of all RE competitors, I think only Triumph has a decent shot at taking away marketshare.

But their Design languages are completely different (RE and Triumph). Will it still play a major role?

Re: Austria-based Brixton Motorcycles announces its India entry

Brixton Australia is apparently Gaokin Moto China. Was wondering where is the Chinese connection and here it is in the below video.

The motorcycle is Storr 500 common to both brands.

Also below link gives an idea that the products make their way into Europe from China and not the other way round.

https://www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocia...0-thor-brixton

So, this is by all means another CF Moto in the making.

All I see is blatant copies of the Bonneville, the Vitpilen/Svartpilen and Honda Grom. And wouldn't you know it, the bikes are built in China and then slapped on with trinkets much in the same way Mutt Motorcycles and Cleveland Cyclewerks have been doing in the UK and the US respectively.
