The range of engine's from 125- 1200 cc is very suited to our market, with demands for the 125 and 250 cc expected to ring the cash registers for this bike maker in India, subject to its clicking with the bikers here.

Austrian engineering is almost at par with German. AVL List GmbH (“AVL”) with its headquarters in Graz, is one of the world's largest independent company for development, simulation and testing in the automotive industry, and in other sectors. We know about Hindustan Motors, who upgraded India's iconic car, the Ambassador during the late 1990's, but with their shoe string budget. They had upgraded their fossilised factory tooling, jigs and dies then. And the BS IV, IC turbocharger on Ambassador Encore (September 2013) development was with AVL collaboration. The Mahindra Scorpio has AVL inputs as also some of our other cars.

Steyr, Puch, KTM and Tishek and Spigel are some of the other well known Austrian automakers. Let's hope Brixton establishes itself here.

I think the Safari and Scorpio share the same block and AVL tech. Might be mistaken.

Not to forget also Royal Enfield that after their brief but eventually unsuccessful dalliance with Fritz Egli for the Super Bullet moved to a pretty long and successful run with AVL to what were then not so lovingly called their "water pump" engines. Basically a reworked British bottom end, with a completely new Austrian top end (cylinder and head) - both 350 and 500. Which were then eventually killed to make way for the UCE series and thereafter.

The inflection point for most old Bulleteers, between old RE and new RE.

Cheers, Doc

I like the sarcasm. There are very few click bait stories that's so successful in Dalal street than the likes of 'Threat to RE, will Eicher fall?'. Last time it was Classic Legends, followed by Honda Highness, then Triumph, HD+Hero, tomorrow it's whatever.

As people have mentioned this is a Chinese brand masquerading as an Austrian brand. The bikes are all Chinese-made bikes so all their tech is 100% Chinese and as you can see their designs are all copies of other brands from Husqvarna to Triumph. When they talk about a factory it's probably an assembly plant like they have for Benelli and Keeway so prices will be uncompetitive. Maybe they will launch their 125cc bikes that will be made in India but their quality will be questionable

They are an Indian company that takes care of sales, Service and spares for Chinese brands like Benelli, Keeway, Moto-Morini, and Zontes in South Maharashtra and North Karnataka Region.

This brand is as much Austrian as MG Motors is British. It's a Chinese owned brand and all the bikes are 100% made in China. They will probably imported via the CKD route and maybe they might have a local 125cc model but honestly with such limited service centers it's not going to entice too many people to buy a 125cc bike from an unknown brand.

Good to know another Manufacturer setting up shop in India instead of just importing and selling. The bike in the Picture looks similar to the current bikes already in the market so not sure what x-factor this brand will have. In India you need a strong brand pull to sell and sustain for long.

Hope they provide good Bikes and back it up with Excellent After Sales Support. Welcome to India "Brixton"

Re: Austria-based Brixton Motorcycles announces its India entry

"Brixton" the name looks catchy and promising and maybe it ends there itself. This looks like another Eider, Regal Raptor, UM (United Motorcycles), etc. in the making. These fly by night operators did open their shop in India but soon wrapped up leaving the buyers high and dry. Don't know about their dealers though.

CF Moto and Benelli are also no different, only saving grace is their somewhat original design and underpinnings from yesteryear Japanese bikes. I believe the Benelli 600i and GT used an iteration of the legendary inline 4 Yamaha R6 engine.

Maybe, Brixton unlike Triumph (400cc models) or Honda (100 to 350cc models) are not going to "manufacture" or "build" their motorcycles in India, instead they would be merely "assembling" from parts that will come as CKD's from China with some localization parts, such as saree guard . I will be happy to be proven wrong, otherwise.

Googled a bit and got this old article, having never read about Brixton earlier:

So the thing is they just mention factory without much information. This 'factory' could be just a CKD assembly plant because the other brands that KAW are dealing with are all Chinese imported CKD bikes. Hopefully we at least get a locally made 125cc bike but I am sure the bigger bikes will be all imported

All these Chinese brands have been half hearted attempts in the Indian market. I don't see why this would be any different. Wishing them good luck.

Re: Austria-based Brixton Motorcycles announces its India entry

If KTM truly ditched (hived off) the 450 twin in favour of their 400 single, then hope still burns eternal in my heart that they will stop messing around with the 790 and 890 twins and resurrect and bring the Duke 690 to India.

Cheers, Daydreaming Doc
