The Pulsar NS400Z has a sporty design with a striking headlamp that features thunderbolt-style LED DRLs and an LED projector light. The muscular fuel tank has extensions on either side with the ‘NS’ decal, a 2-piece stepped seat and a tiny chin fairing with a ‘400’ decal.

The NS400Z comes with a digital instrument console that offers Bluetooth connectivity. By pairing their smartphones, riders can access features like turn-by-turn navigation, incoming calls, missed calls and SMS alerts. It also gets four riding modes – Road, Rain, Sport and Off-road, switchable traction control and dual-channel ABS.

The Pulsar NS400Z uses the same 373cc single-cylinder engine that powers the Dominar 400. It produces 39.4 BHP @ 8,800 rpm and 35 Nm @ 6,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox via an assist and slipper clutch.

The NS400Z is equipped with a 43 mm upside-down fork and a gas-charged mono-shock with adjustable preload. Braking is handled by a 320 mm front disc and a 230 mm disc at the rear.

1.85 lakh for the 400NS (or is it NS 400?) is
13k more than the RS200
48k more than the NS200
36k more than the N250
15k more than the Hunter 350 mid variant
15k more than the Honda CB300F
5k more than the Karizma XMR 211cc
______________________________
17k less than the cheapest Classic 350 with Dual Channel ABS
45k less than the Dominar 400 (with the same engine)
50k less than the Speed 400
55k less than the CB300R

Adjusted for inflation, it is cheaper than the OG 2007 Bajaj Pulsar 220 Fi.
The 2007 Pulsar 220 Fi was launched at Rs.81,280. Assuming an average 6% inflation for 17 years, the same money is now worth Rs.2,18,868. This is 33k cheaper than this number.

40 BHP today has been truly democratized. Now it is on Bajaj to offer more products on this 373cc engine and capture the market.

Just 10 years too late, yet as VFM as ever. The Chakan guys have done it again! In 2013, Duke 390 was launched at ₹1.8 lakhs, now in 2024 NS400 launched at the same price, which is quite unbelievable TBH. It's ₹40k cheaper than Dominar 400 and ₹60k cheaper than RTR310. After a long time, Bajaj has managed to shock the competition and market alike. First D390, then Dominar, the Triumph 400's and now NS400, Bajaj has truly democratized 40 hp bikes.

Excellent pricing for a bike with such specs.
My only worry is such specs at this price range may make it the favored chappri bike.

Good for us KTM boys then. We can graduate to white collared cchapris now.

As a democrat socialist though, I must say that most cchapris can and will ride the pants off most of those who sneer at them.

Cheers, Doc

Trying to find out where the exhaust pipe / silencer is! :D Seems it's missing in the images above!

Time to stop the top heavy yet good looking Dominar 400. Ex-owner here. The NS400 should suffice for most at this price/feature/specs despite the average old looks.

Having said that, there have been no major rattle, chain slack, quality issues with my Speed 400 till now. So those who want better quality levels can go for that or the CB300R. Pricing is spectacular all the same for the 400NS. Planning to get it's adjustable levers and try on the Speed 400 when made available.

What is the weight of the bike? And can someone confirm whether the bike still has the heavy steering like Dominar?

We needed the 43mm USD front forks in the Dominar. Honestly, those skinny front forks make the Dominar look like a toy bike. And I liked the Gen 1 more because of it's chunky telescopic forks. I wonder of a fork swap will be possible between the NS400Z and the current Dominar.

It's 174 kg with a 12 ltr fuel tank.

I am curious how many Spark Plugs this 373 engine has. Wasn't mentioned anywhere during the launch.

Killer pricing combined with trademark Pulsar design cues should make this a runaway success. Wish they would launch an AS (Adventure Series) based on this also. Good luck, Bajaj !

Yet another VFM motorcycle launched by Bajaj! Pricing is so well done, I hope it sells like hot cake.
I wonder why they didn't use 400cc engine "jointly" developed with Triumph? To keep the cost lower? Anyone?
