Re: Riders using motorcycles registered under other's names | Have you faced any issues?

Usually not an issue if you are courteous with the cops. For example, our family scooter is registered in my wife's name. I've never faced an issue at the multiple "naka bandi" checks that I've gone through over the last decade with it. They have asked once or twice about my relationship with the owner in passing. Once that's clarified, no issues.

As others have mentioned before, an authorisation letter is a good idea if you are going out of town. We do this for our car which is registered in the company's name. Just a letter on company letterhead with the primary user(s) name(s) that has the authorised signatory's signature and company stamp.

In Leh the unofficial Taxi union and other goons stop vehicle owners especially bikers and ask them to show original RC and adhaar to ensure it is not a hired vehicle and if it is, they don't allow it go any further. Though it is a violation but local authorities are allowing it
