I really hope not. Every vehicle will then start beeping everywhere. It is already a herculean effort to get people to stop honking, we don't want to automate this. At best, we will all start ignoring that sound and worst case, it will make angry people even more aggressive when they hear it.

I agree that the future is electric and I cannot wait for it. We could get government authorities to improve road design and surface. From our end, we can buy cars that don't have huge blindspots (SUVs cough cough), we can keep our tyres and brakes in tip top condition and just drive slower on blind and bad roads.

Unfortunately, I think we will see much worse cases of tyre bursts, accidents for sometime until people realise how fast 200hp is and how quickly 380Nm torque will eat tyres. It is bad enough seeing so many RE650s running on bald tyres on a vehicle format that is not inherently stable, with zero safety features. I can't imagine car drivers maintaining good tyres when their car won't fall down without a side stand and they are cocooned with 7 airbags.

Thanks. I booked one :) Love this colour

This is fabulous, as an Avenis owner, the fact that there is a footboard, compared to the Aerox and the Xoom160, is awesome.

I see a few similarities between the Avenis and the Tesseract. In my experience, we need to see if there is an actual glove box to store the phone while it is charging, along with a bottle holder. These two are a blessing on the Avenis.

The display needs to be seen if it can weather our weather, the Avenis display is not strong enough.

Next will be the charger network, as Ather is available all across Goa, I haven't seen any other two wheeler company with such a large charger network.

Wishlist: If they had a helmet with HUD and polarised visor, FIA approved as well.

Booked. Hopefully they will be able to deliver as per provided timeline.

Pre-Booked it, though with a bit of apprehension. The features being touted are for advanced technology and price not so much. Either the competition is making a lot of margins, or the 1.2 lac scooter will just have the battery pack, the outside shell and rest barebone features to just complete the scooter. All the listed features in 1.2 lacs variant is extremely tough to fathom, I hope I am wrong though and in final product the difference is just the battery pack with all features common. This though I still take with a pinch of salt.

What UV ended up doing is pushing the people on the borderline to make the jump and believe in them, including me. I was never very excited about all the EV scooters launch till date, but this one had my attention and money as well. So did a lot of our members here, now the ball is in UV court, this will be a make-or-break moment for them in a year's time.

I will hold on to my booking till then and hope that I get to bring one of them home next year.

But the online bookings are just pre-bookings (equivalent to an Expression of Interest). The discount will be for first 10000 deliveries (not first 10000 online bookings).

Its applicable to pre-bookings.

Booked the black colour. SA mentioned colour can be changed retaining the priority. We will get communication later for variant configurations as per him.

Couldn't hold back any longer. Have booked the Tesseract. My booking would be > 20k so won't expect delivery sooner than 1.5 years.

Have booked the SONIC PINK as per the instructions from my 5 yr old daughter. Thankfully colour change will be allowed so we can figure that one out later. lol:

Reminds me of the good old (read *bad*) days of the license raj when it took 2 years to get a Chetak.

Impeccable taste. A hard choice between SONIC PINK and a yellow River Indie but alas, I cannot afford to have more than my one bike.

What is that red thing in the middle of the seat? If it some hard plastic then it will be 'nut breaker'.

How can a company hold prices for a year? Other than this, I’m quite excited to see them deliver this scooter.

Pre booking seems to have been closed, the page now shows a "Register your Interest" tab instead.

Just checked and it’s showing pre-book for me. You may try now.

I have somewhat large frame and currently own a Jupiter for City runs and just 20 - 30 mins of riding makes my back hurt. So was thinking of a replacement for the same and took somewhat longish test rides of River Indie, Rizta, iQube. Zeroed in on Indie as it is leagues ahead in terms of comfort (purely personal opinion and only based on seating comfort. Didn't felt the need to go much into ride, handling, looks etc) and almost decided to book the same. Now comes the shock of this release from UV and I am in a dilemma on whether to go ahead with Indie or wait until this is available for test rides. I tend to keep my vehicles for long and waiting for some more time is okay for me. So now totally confused on what to do. Tesseract is one of those things which is hard to ignore if you are on market for a new scooter given the performance on tap and the never ending features at this price point.

One other thing that often rings in my mind is the fact that 20 bhp and abundance of torque on tap available at this low price point. It may go up once newer players/models are available in future. Many young kids may grab one and can't even think what it will be like to drive on road peacefully.
It is high time that lawmakers should think of segregation of driving licences based on power/CC of engines. I believe not more than 0.1 bhp/kg should be allowed until the age of 21 and then should take another test to go to higher powered ones.
