Hi guys,
A friend of mine is looking for a new bike here in Kolkata. He's interested in Pulsor 200. I have suggested him to have a look at the Apache RTR too.
What guys suggest? Which one would be a better deal, performance wise?

By the way, is P220 available in Kolkata? If yes what would be the on road price?

I would suggest your friend to go in for the P200 as it is pretty trouble free,higher on performance compared to the Apache and also looks BIG comparatively. If budget permits he should also look at the P220. I personally feel that the apache looks way too small and underpowered (obvious) compared to the 200/220.

BHP:
RTR may clock somewhat lower speeds than p200 but people often complain about gearbox problems of p200 after an year of serious biking.

Supension: p200 vis-a-vis RTR are good enough.

styling: RTR looks much better than the boring p200,same ubiquitous design with some cosmetics.

Handling : no idea( havenot ridden both).

Service : Depends really on the dealership rather than brand. Wherever you buy the bike, search for a good dealership where service is actually done( many dealers just 'wash away' the bikes in free service periods and 'may' attend paid services with more zeal.

maintanence: whichever bike you buy make it mandatory to change the engine oil every 2000Kms (ideally 1800kms). That is a little bit of expense you can afford to keep your bikes heart young always , even beyond 5 yrs.Will lower nagging maintance problems latter.

So, summarising: Power/torque wise P200 leads(eats) RTR. But , if balance of style and power is your piece of cake then go for RTR. You will not regret.Comfort wise both are more or less same.

I dont know about RTR, but yes I have a Pulsar 180. Great bike minus the gearbox, it sucks. I love the handling on 180 Ug3. There was an issue with fork barrel breaking at speeds of 60 for P200, please make sure that this is rectified (as I havent tracked this news for sometime) before your friend buys it.

If you have the money, by all means go for the Pulsar 200. The fork issue has been sorted out long time back so it shouldn’t cause any problems.

by all means, plz go in for the p200. It is great vfm.. the rtr is good but not great vfm.

Ya the fork issue is what made me to think. @Yogesh are you sure it is fixed?

Yes it has been fixed, they even replaced the forks of all those 200's that were from the problem lot.

No one has completed a year of serious biking on any of the Pulsar 200 in India.The bike was launched in january/febraury 2007.
The gearboxes of both 200 and 220 are much refined and smooth as compared to any other pulsar.
I own one since last 4 months and there are no front fork/ gearbox issues.
The front forks were present in only a very few bikes which were replaced in no time with new designed forks.
So far I have run for about 4000kms and fuel efficiency is awesome, in cities like Pune, P200 returns 40-42 kmpl.

So P200 is the way to go I believe ;)

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaait...The RTR 160 E-Fi is on the cards...With a rear disc.

The P200 is more like a gentle brute to ride, while the RTR's almost square bore x store allow the bike to revv a lot more and hence it should be more fun.

And trust me, a TVS is a lot more reliable than a Bajaj (I know a lot of you will catch my neck for it, but I speak with experience).

The RTR's chassis will also be a lot better and the bike will be nimbler, though the stance of the P200 would rock.

My friend said the adjustable clip-on's also make the ride a lot more comfy. He's trying to coax me into buying one.

Go for the RTR.

Anyways its not gonna be soon i guess. Hopefully it'll b available when I would be looking for a bike :D . My friend's planning to buy soon.
