Hi I need to buy a 150cc segment bike for myself.
Bike should be a recent launch (i.e. dont want outdated tech/design).

Only brand that I am definitely against is HONDA as have had very bad experience with Activa, and despite genuine difficulty neither the Honda dealership nor Honda company showed any interest in giving help at all. So have ruled out Hero Honda also as do not want Honda badge in any way.

I guess that leaves Bajaj, TVS, Suzuki & Yamaha. My preference between these is Bajaj or Yamaha.

Any suggestions?

Also, need an ungeared scooter for wife. Again, do not want Honda, so I guess that leaves Kinetic & Bajaj?

I suggest, go for TVS Apache RTR - my brother is using it for one & half year without any problem.

Hey dude

the new honda unicorn is what is for the best, go for it cozz u wouldnt have to visit the dealer with regards to probs, i know people who've been using the unicorn for the past 4years without any kinda problems.........

TVS is unreliable as they forget their old models

Yamaha would be a good pik, but it's models are outdated

Pulsar is good only for today, no one knows about tomorrow

SO HONDA UNICORN IS WHAT WILL BE THE RIGHT PICK !!!!!!!!!lol:

I would shortlist Honda Unicorn & TVS Apache, but if want to avoid Honda brand, Apache would be a nice choice!

Hi Brian.. I am an Anti Honda guy too.. :)
Go for TVS APACHE 160RTR.. it has got the best performance in the 150 class.. (but its a 160 :))

Hi thanks all:

I am happy to get input from you guys because I havent really been plugged into the two wheeler world for a while, and was getting confused.

Based on your input, I have shortlisted Apache and Pulsar. If both bikes are equally recommended then I will see whose dealership will offer me a better deal, and also a better attitude & decide.

I have an interest in Yamaha but I dont know if they have anything in 150cc, nor have I been able to find out about a Yamaha dealership in Mumbai?

Also - any similar input for the wife's scooter? Again, no honda/hh please.

Once again, really appreciate your guidance.

TVS Apache RTR or Bajaj Pulsar 150DTSi, both are very good, if your tall, give the Apache a skip.

My choices are as below:

1) Bajaj Pulsar 150 DTSi.
2) TVS Apache.

I own a Unicorn. But my experience with the bike is good. I own this from past 2 years. As far as the dealership goes, I agree with you I also fought with the dealer sometime back. But settled out after my brother threatned the manager.

I Prefer RTR ever Hunk or Pulsar... anyday!

I would suggest you to wait till June coz, that is when the Yamaha R15 is supposed to be launched.
Else wait at least till Apache FI is launched (due in Feb ?).
Even I am looking for a bike, but I'll wait till June and decide between Apache FI and the R15.

R15 will cost around how much a P220 does.

Usually I dont advise people to wait for new launch as they do have a tendency to get delayed & delayed.. but if u arent in a hurry, the yamaha R15 is the most promising one here

as for scooter for ur wife, the new flyte from kinetic SYM is a great scooter package at a good price Kinetic Sym Flyte

I've been using Pulsar 150 for close to 2 years. No problems at all and is quite silky in its ride.

I would definitely recommend this unless you want ride something different than what many people ride nowadays.

Yah. But it also promises a better performance than the P220 and a more sporty design :)
