I wonder what makes u think so

Pulsar 180 - 16 Bhp - 61k
ZMA - 17Bhp- 76k
*Bajaj 220- 22Bhp- 1.3
*Comet 250 - 27 Bhp- 1.9

These are tentative onroad price in pune. I think the price sounds good

the reason y the comet is priced at 1.9 is cause hyosung's the 1 whos supplying the bikes to kinetic. importing the bikes can raise the cost. also according to my info( quiet reliable) bajaj is wants to have a competetive price tag on its product so that it can firstly appeal to the masses n secondly crush the competetion if ne!!

Well, its really simple why I think 1.3 lakhs is too much.

1. The chassis and suspension would use the basic Pulsar setup with twin shocks at the rear. Maybe the frame would be beefed up a bit, thats a minimum cost to the company.

2. 22hp is just 5 HP more than what you get right now on a DTSi. For that, you pay more than double the amount?

3. Considering HP is not everything, even then, Rs.1,30,000/- is just too much for a half faired Pulsar running on MRF's.

4. Still not sure whether this is a totally new engine, but I doubt that. So that means you same single cylinder aircooled DTSi job.

To put this in persective, you can now buy a standard non-A/C Maruti for less than Rs.2,00,000. Think about that for a minute and you will understand why I think its to bloody expensive!

For just Rs.50,000/- more, the comet is a comparitive steal as you get good rubber, USD forks, monoshock rear, V-twin 250cc oil cooled engine and more power. That too this bike a CBU! Imagine if they produced it here, the price would drop to 1,20,000 or so!

I think our Indian motorcycle manufacturers need to seriously think again about their pricing. We deserve better.

So finally 200cc+ bikes are eyeing the Indian market huh!! Nice to know that.
But i doubt it will replace the 180cc Pulsar, cos 1.3lacs is a lil bit expensive for an average buyer.

If the price is gonna be 1.3 lak , it will definately be on a new platform and not a upgraded Pulsar.

Some not so reliable sources( but still ) tell me that chances of Bajaj coming out with a 1.3 lak bike in the first quarter of 2005 are preety less.
Currently Bajaj is not finding enough buyers for the 180 as it had expected.

That's because buyers have a choice between the 180 and the Karizma. Guess which one the majority choose!

hit the nail on the head!!

the price difference between the pulsar 180 and the karizma has just been narrowed lately as the ex-showroom price of the zma is now Rs.69990. for some extra cheese, u get a bigger bore, better looks, digital fuel guage, honda quality and service.
