Honda Dio - New Type Body

Hey guys,

Did a search for this but found no results.
Is it possible to change the body of my old 2005 Honda Dio to the new type ?

OLD - http://www.muncha.com/images/items/detpic11776.gif
NEW - http://www.honda2wheelersindia.com/i.../red_large.jpg

If its possible, how much would it cost and where can I do it in Chennai/B'glore/south(?)

Thanks !

When i bought the honda dio in 2004 i was told that all the plastic panels can be changed for a total cost of 2000 rs . Now may be for 3000 Rs you could change all the plastic panels. Check with your dealer ship.

There are a few Bike modifiers in chennai who could probably do a good job of stickering. I would suggest go around Pudupet for checking out modifiers. I hope you are well versed in Tamil as a language as the area is not that up market and you need to get greasy to find your stuff.

Another location to get stickers is Peters Road, the same road where Jayapradha Theatre is .

Originally this was true but now it's partially true.

You can still get all the plastic parts BUT , they won't have any colors. You need to paint them.

So for the current look for the new dio

1) Buy the parts from honda dealer

2) Paint them with some external shop

3) Buy the new stickers from honda delear

You are done with a hole in pocket ~5-6 k

Thanks for the help sreedotk, will surely do.

@hrishig, Thanks! My bike's gotten a lot of scratches, and also looks faded. Was thinking of getting the whole body done. 5k should be no problem

You are right the hole is pretty large one. Almost 10% of the bike's as new value. Did not think of the associated costs

amitwiz1 might be able to salvage some parts. If you are going to get the new ones paineted, you might as well only replace worn parts and use the old ones to be repainted to colour and graphics of your choice

Very good idea sreedotk ! The bike has only surface scratches and nothing deep ! Might as well do just the painting and stickering. You've just saved me ~2k. Will go to get the stickers checked out tomorrow.

Now, I have no idea of where to get it painted. Had enquired the dealer today, he redirected me around 5 other nos. at the end of which the one was engaged.

If you're getting a paintjop. go to a real proffesional and get it done with quality stuff like du-pont or something, then do some stickering. its not worth buying the body just to get a new sticker job. Or u could try some scrapyard where the panels may be available.

As mentioned, I decided to just get my original panels painted, as they had no cuts or deep scratches.

I had the idea of giving it a whole black or matt black finish and then proceed with red stickering or something similar.

Unfortunately, the "professional" paint shop I visited had never heard of matt black. Now I guess they have a tamil phrase for that, something like "kari karupu" or ... dont know. Help me so I can tell the paintshop better ?

BTW: Are the real rad Dio stickers available in pudupet or are they just fake "attempts". I must say, I seen a Dio with the huge badging and it does look fa far better than mine from any angle.

Off Topic

This is off-topic, but I had few other queries about the dio. How do I access the engine with "CLIC" ?? I never read the manual, and dont have it now. I was told about this only recently.

Would anyone having a (hard or) soft copy of the manual mind sending it to me.
