SCOOP! Yamaha FZ/FZ150 naked bike now christened FZ16

Was watchin this section of t-bhp everyday with a raised eyebrow as to why ain't there a thread for the FZ/FZ150 which created quite a wave along with the R-1-Five at the Auto Expo. Well, many people were of the view that the FZ would fade down like the Gladi concepts from the last Auto Expo. Somewhere, I was feeling that(or rather praying 'please Yamaha, bring it on!') the FZ would come to life. And today's Karnataka's local daily 'Vijay Karnataka' had a half page ad showcasing Yamaha's new daddy head and that he was inviting dealership business.

The ad showed the gallery of the available models of Yamaha and 2008 slated launches which had the R-1-Five and (Yes! Yes!..) the FZ/FZ150. I've taken the snapshot of the Ad(excuse me for the poor image quality because SE W810 is all the lens I have!) where you can see the two bikes with '2008 ralli bidugade' (kannada for '2008 Launches'). I tried to post the image from the site of Vijay Karnataka, but I don't know why their site's not showing up. If anyone has a better link to the same Ad, please do the needful. Speculations about the FZ/FZ150 launch being near Diwali are already in the air.

So, some hope for all the Yamaha fans then. Please, share with whatever info you have about this bike.

on the contrary why it should be??

OK lets see the what this bike mean.

1. It looks hot.
2. Its an air cooled, so heavy traffic is not a issue - one need not revv it harder.
3. Its for people who want style as well as it doesn't burn holes in the pocket.
4. It could be affordable.
5. Less on maintanence.
6. Seating posture suitable for commuting and mild touring.
7. Power and torque available at lower and mid RPMs. (usefull for city riding and relaxed engine = good for touring)

PS: don't get on me for saying a 150cc as a tourer. After riding my suzuki zeus for few short rides(120 - 125km one way) with top speeds around 90 to 100kmph and an average speed not less than 70kmph, I think a 150cc is a very good bike for small rides. It gives good FE and power adequate for our roads.

Oh... Damn!!! That would make this bike available in the 60-65-70K bracket (assuming safely that for 15ps or for that matter even 15bhp, Yamaha would axe the 4 Valves, 6 speed gearbox, the lighter frame, etc.) and would target all those Hunk, Extremes, RTRs, P180 or may be even P200 buyers. Which is something I definitely wouldn't want!

I hope that Yamaha equips it with enough armory to create a niche for itself (the styling is definitely in the right direction), just like what they intend doing with the R-1-Five, lest this may get lost in the crowd too.

Else, my wait will certainly go to drains and I may end with the RTR/RTR-fi which is certainly more focussed (on being sporty) bike!

Still, me thinks it's too early to guess on the specs. I think FZs specs will have a mighty influence by how the public (er... the targeted public) reacts to the R-1-Five.

Took some scoop shots of the FZ today. It was being tested by a factory rider, riding around in full protective gear. Will post them here tomorrow after watermarking them.

This would be a good bike as per 150 cc engine is conderned it would noto be as good as the r15 cause this is a air cooled and here it would lose a major part of the power that it can produce... but the looks of the bike are mazing and it surely would give some serious compitition to HH and BAL. at the end of the YAMAHA is a YAMAHA...

Here are the pics, sorry for how they came out. Was driving on NH 24 & clicking at the same time! Not an easy job as you can see in a certain ORVM shot!

And yeah, the bike caught my attention because it was on a Temp plate & also because the rider was riding with a lot of protective gear including Back guard, helmet etc. which is absolutely unheard of around these areas! And of course what really got my attention was the short exhaust!

P.S. Special thanks to Rehaan for watermarking the pics for me! Thanks man!

The bike looks beefy because of that fatter rear tyre.
