Is it a good idea to buy a pre-owned Kawasaki Eliminator, now?

Eliminator has never managed to impress me. I think the RE TB makes a better chopper look then the eliminator, enticer, avenger, etc. But thats my opinion, as far as the engine goes it is a pretty reliable machine and i have friends who say the bike has never given them any problems.

@JPL - have you shortlisted any eliminators. YOu can maybe post some pics and the prices and some of our bike experts will definately pitch in with their comments.

@AbhishekJP - I must say, your bike looks great in the cherry color .

Is it a good idea to buy the Kawasaki Eliminator now?

I have come accross a Black KAWASAKI ELIMINATOR. It has clocked 5800 kms. The owner is asking 35k for it.

Is it a good idea to go for this bike now in 2011? Are parts available with Bajaj Dealers? What are the major problems/ major wear & tear/ major replacements to take care of?

Feedback around buying a used Kawasaki Eliminator

Dear Friends,

I am a big fan of the Kawasaki Eliminator. I am keen on owning one. I have driven the eliminator and avenger and find that eliminator engine is awesome. I have been able to identify a good used one with the following details.

year of manufacturing: dec 2002
state of registration: Andhra Pradesh
color: black
odo reading: 32K
price: 29K
feedback: I did a test drive along with my trusted mechanic and found that we need to do the following work on the bike.

replace front tyre after another 2K kms
replace the battery
replace the clutch plates.
estimated cost: 3-5K for the above points

I would like to seek your feedback if this is a good deal.
Availability of spares given this bike is not in production anymore.
Ownership experience
recommendations for mods i.e engine porting to increase the engine capacity, alloy wheel recommendations, adding K&N filter etc.

Mods: If there is a thread already in place, please close this thread and share the thread with me

Re: Is it a good idea to buy the Kawasaki Eliminator?

I would also like to seek list of good mechanics in Hyderabad who can service the Eliminator, preferably towards Madhapur, Mehdipatnam, Kondapur, Gachibowli areas. Looking forward for more feedback coming in from the forum members

Re: Is it a good idea to buy the Kawasaki Eliminator?

As sankar pointed out

Eliminator = Kawasaki engine
Avenger = Bajaj's pulsar engine

But at this point of time finding spares for Kawasaki engine is a challenge ( if not impossible) .

There are better machines available in market now.

Re: Is it a good idea to buy the Kawasaki Eliminator?

Thanks black12rr for your valuable feedback. I have driven both and I find that Eliminator is leagues above Avenger in terms of pure driving pleasure and engine refinement. I would like to go ahead with the purchase as long as there is no difficulty in finding the spares in the market. I did check out with probiking and bajaj showrooms in Hyderabad and they informed me that the complete spares of the eliminator are available and should not be a problem.

Around the better machines in the market, can you please share your feedback around some of the better cruiser bikes around.

Clocking just 32k kms in 10 years seems fishy to me. Please check that out.
