There were being tested on a beach?? What kind of bikes were they? I don't see the point of a YZF-150 after the R15.

@BrakeHorsePower

Was the FZ250 a single or a twin or better still an inline four? Could you please delve deep into your memory and come out with it. BTW, a Yamaha 125 is on the cards it seems. That's what a fellow forumer at Xbhp gleaned out from a Yamaha official at the recent Bangalore auto show. And the so-called official even talked about a 250 in the 3rd quarter of 09. Bring it on Yamaha, PLEASE.

I highly doubt yamaha coming up with any bikes as of now in this category.

they're barely able to meet the demand for already hot selling fz16 (which is purely a mockery of the fz series) and there is no such bike as fz 250 , the FZR 250 isnt produced anymore i think.

and I doubt the YZF R-125 as its too expensive, and trust me people call the R15 quite expensive, and the R-125 would be much more expensive than the R15. and Yamaha isn't dumb to cut its own sales figures by offering bikes that cut into each other's segments. and no one would buy a "125cc" bike for more than a "150cc" bikes with nearly the same looks and hardly any difference in performance (for the price extra to be paid)

lastly Yamaha wouldn't test any bike in the south, i think they are based in Noida or Gurgaon (confused), you probably you have seen (if you have genuienly seen two new bikes) a prototype of TVS (they most test their bikes in TN )

Excellent man. If this buzz gets confirmed by Yamaha, there will be plenty of people who'll start saving up for the FZ250. How I wish Yamaha comes in and confirms all this. But, with the big four, they love to keep us guessing, don't they

re: Spotted FZ-250 and YZF-125

Quote from Autocar India February 2011 issue, page 181 regarding the FZ 250

"The bike maker (Yamaha) is also developing a burly 250 cc street bike based on the FZ16. A rear disc brake will help stop this four-stroke single cylinder engined bike, which is expected to cost close to Rs 1,30,000, when launched in mid-2011." [End quote]

Yamaha intends to double market share within 5 years here in india so one of the best ways to do so is by have more products in its portfolio. And with the competition all having a 200cc+ bike in their stable (i.e honda (cbr 250), hero honda, bajaj), I am pretty sure we will be seeing a 250 yamaha soon. I just hope and pray they give the FZ 250 a fuel injection system as well.

Quote from Autocar India February 2011 issue, page 181 regarding the R15

" Yamaha india is all set to face-lift the R15, which will gain a trendy new R6 derived facade. The R15 upgrade will add on sporty split seats, plus a redesigned tail and LED brake warning. Fatter rubber, plus a new tyre hugger will be seen at the rear. Also expect swanky 10-spoke alloy wheels, a meaty silencer and a repositioned rear number plate. We dont expect much changes within the R15's proven liquid cooled engine. Yamaha could bring down the pricing on the new R15 by as much as Rs. 10,000." [End quote]

I think all this news of the R125 coming is not true and i think people are mistaking the new redesigned R15 for the R125. There is a picture on the redesigned R15 in this issue of Autocar (feb pg.181), and it looks quite like the R125 you get in europe.

I think it would be more than 1,50,000 ex-showroom for sure, considering the price of the current models from Yamaha.

I am guessing they might bring a base model with rear drums and carburetter for around Rs 1.3 L and bring a fully loaded version with Fuel injection and twin discs for around Rs 1.5 L. But your guess is as good as mine at this stage as nothing has been confirmed by Yamaha.

I think one of the ways to gage if the fz 250 will be priced at Rs 1.3 L or not will be to see if the new updated R15 when released (before the fz250) will have a price reduction or not. If they do reduce it then it will kinda point to yamaha trying to price the Fz 250 at Rs 1.3 L and then trying to increase the price gap with the R15. lets see if yamaha do reduce the price of the upgraded R15 by Rs 10,000 as suggested by Autocar.
