Spotted : 2 Mahindra bikes outside ARAI.

UPDATE : For the latest on the new Mahindra bikes in India, take a look at this thread : Mahindra Bikes Launched

I saw 2 heavily camouflaged Mahindra motorcycles outside ARAI today. The Mahindra logo was nowhere to be seen except on the speedo. One of them (with a fairing) had a horizontally mounted engine like Hero Honda Splendor. The other one, which seemed slightly bigger, came without a fairing but had a disc brake upfront. I am going to take my cam tomorrow, and see if I can click some pics. (And also of a heavily disguised SUV)

This is interesting and am sure Mahindra is out to create a Scorpio like success story in the bikes segment. Beware Bajaj and Honda here come the Mahindra's...

Those are bikes from Chinese manufacturer Lifan. Those probably be wont very reliable as can be made out from the general image of chinese products. There's a cruiser upto 400cc in the range too. And yes, they are comin to the market. They are defintely undergoing homologation. Just hope this sparks off a "CC" war. When will we get to see those 600s and litres?

I think it will be more like a 'kpl' war....at least in this segment. Mahindra may decide to tackle the rural market which used to be dominated by Rajdoot 175 and the Bullet....since they have a good image and a good network in rural india.

The SUV was parked deep inside the ARAI compound. It was too far away to make anything out. The security at the gates is not quite friendly too....So going in for a stroll is out of the question. I was all set to go out there again with my cam, but today it rained like hell here. So maybe tomorrow.

No mate...they moved the things. Besides the past few days were really busy and I didnt have the time to trek up the hill. But I will try and see if the vehicles are still there...maybe in a couple of days.

Read in the UAE newspapers today that Mahindra have tied up with an American Truck manufacturer to build heavy trucks and earth moving equipment. Does anyone have details yet?

Two wheelers and trucks - thats quite an expansion if all this news is correct...
