Engine check and Transportation

Urgent help need guys.
I managed to find a second hand machismo 350 ( my dream bike ) Except its not in my City ( Mumbai ) .The vehicle is in Nagpur.
Queries
1. What should I be checking for to see if the engine is in good condition ( its a 2008 June model ).I dont trust mechanics so will not take 1 along.
2. What should the cost be ?
3. How can I transport the bike from nagpur to mumbai. I dont wont to take chance riding an unfamiliar bike in the monsoon on the highway.
