Original Parts for 1960s Royal Enfields

Hi

I purchased one 1967 Royal Enfield. But most of the parts are changed. I want to restore it to 1962 model specification. I enquired about the parts from different spare parts dealers in Hyderabad and Delhi. Rate given by them is as follows

Parts price in New Delhi
1. Front and Rear Hub old mdel Rs450 Each
2. Mudguard front and rear 1962 type one is Rs1250 for both and Heavy typre Rs1950 for Both.
3. Old type horn switch Rs300
4. Back number plate with TL old model Rs225
5. Steel spokes Rs5 each.
6. Heavy crank i do not require but its price is RS 3500
7. Smith meter replica Rs 350

I want original second hand parts so that some more originality will be there. I consult with some mechanic here in Hyderabad but they told it will be available in PUDUPET Chennal. Any chennai guys can give me some more detatils regarding price and availability.

If anybody from know the availabilty in Hyderabad please let me know the details

Thank & Regards
S. Das

Go with new parts much better in the longer run.
Old parts are a gamble they may or may not last so it will be a waste of money and time.
i have a seen and heard a lot of BS regarding "Old Enfields"
even if u get old parts that are supposed to be "old" u might never be able to tell the difference.
hows the condition of the engine on your 1967?
i must've surely been opened up in the course of 40+ years for repairs.
regards

Since all the parts are cosmetics. Go with what looks "period" and don't waste time on second hand stuff.

Now i have opened the engine due to some oil leakage from gearbox and some sound from Crank. After opening the engine i found every thing is original inside it like Roller bearings and all stuff. Any way i am also reboring it and putting it a new over size piston. It will be ready within this week after that i will post my experience of new engine performance.

re: Original Parts for 1960s Royal Enfields

I also have a 1962 Royal Enfield and is there with me for the last 4 years, I have been successful in sourcing few original parts like the hubs, 2 pairs of levers, petrol tank lid, head lamp rim and few other parts all (Made in England) however I now realize that I should have emphasized in having the bike running with durable parts, sourcing the parts and going around the mechanics is waste of time, buy the parts which comes your way, keep the bike running, I know its a slow process but this way you need not wait for years together and you will not end up loosing money and time.

+1 there is huge inclination in market towards vintage looking Bullets. Hence every Tom, dick and Harry is selling parts saying they are vintage. There is every chance that you will be taken for a ride if you dont take atmost caution.

my philosophy is why buy some thing which looks vintage and not actually vinatge ?
