Its a fantastic move, and kudos to Bajaj for being so forward thinking. I doubt it will sell like hot cakes but it will work nice a branding exercise.

Good move in principle, but somehow I doubt "Bajaj" carries the same weightage as Yamaha/Honda/Kawasaki or even Enfield!

Yes you are right. Bajaj definitely does not carry the same weightage as say Yamaha or Kawasaki. However they are going to take a smarter route. Initially they are only launching the accessories under their power brands. So Instead of a bajaj helmet you may get a helmet with the stylish Pulsar swish emblazoned across it. And that may sell after all considering the number of Pulsars on the road. Similarly with stylish Pulsar jackets. You can bet every other Pulsar rider would die to have one. Smart move bajaj!

Great move. i knew that it would be bajaj and no one else to start this kinda exercise. But i am not sure how long it will be before thier products start to sell like 'hot cakes' but yeah they will with time. Thumbs Up to Bajaj!

Dunno if I want to walk around with a T-shirt that says "Bajaj". Might get mistaken for an auto driver.

Very true...would be worse if they added "RE" to it, especially if one has a big butt. Would be as bad as the reactions and comments that BPL Mobile's girls got when they went around with the "You can!" marketing slogan on their T-shirts.

Which is why the news article mentions that they are likely to go with the Pulsar brand for the merchandise.

Harley Davidson also sell their own merchandises and this enhance their brand value. This move will definitely improve Bajaj Image.

I think its a good move by Bajaj but at the same time they won't sell like hot cakes. Selling with Pulsar brand is better than just Bajaj as others mentioned before. I will surely buy them for my Pulsar.

May work if they sell in their Pro-Bike section. Otherwise, imagine selling merchandise in the showroom alongwith "boxers" and others of their ilk. Major image problem
