Engine sounds from my '98 Yamaha RXZ

Alright guys, i'm in the middle of a lecture and i just have to post this quick so i'll cut right to the chase!
My 98 model RXZ 4speed has started making a horrible noise from the bottom of the cylinder block last night and conked off twice. I managed to get it till a mechanic today afternoon and after kicking for two minutes the bike started again. He says the piston and connecting rod might require changing and that it would cost around 2k with everything done.

he mentioned that there are three pistons i can choose from. I've forgotten the names but could anyone tell me which would be the best one to replace the current one with?

I should also add that the guy's garage is at hadapsar, pune
it has the castrol bike point board so i thought it would be somewhat safe.
Any help here would be great!
