Nope. Diesel is available in only 6 speed manual for both E2 and E4.

Petrol has only variant i.e. E4 AT.

Thanks. I'm in the market for a diesel automatic. Very few choices. :Frustrati

On this thread after a very long time. Have yet to see the car from inside. Just wanted to share impressions of how it looks from the outside.

I think it oozes character and class.
The more I see it, the more I appreciate it. If a choice of car talks about a person, seeing someone in one may make me think of a person as independent minded (not following the herd of ~). As someone with good taste. And unlike most other cars, I like it a lot from different directions; from the front, side and from the rear. This car has appeal.

Will probably get induced into a meaningless TD, just because of how it looks.

Hey, do a TD anyway. I had driven the Fluence petrol AT and it rides quite well.

The SA took us for around 7-8 kms drive with good bad and ugly roads. We were quite impressed and its underbelly never touched the notorious Blr speed breakers.

Thanks Tacho!

I said meaningless because we already bought the car (Optra Magnum), after testing and also reporting about many cars on the forum. What I wanted to convey there was that, this car has so much visual appeal, that one may want to go and check it, just because of that. And it has an air of exclusivity also.

If I go for a TD, it would be for the diesel manual. Am not at all into AT's. Just can't imagine being without the control one gets in a manual stick shift. :D

Appreciated well calibrated review from stratos. Probably have read the post and comments about ten times now. Have been fond of this car since the day one of its launch.

The design and specs are appealing (other than the Engine size and power when compared to the rate). Somehow the decision of the buying it is overcast by the fact that it is a New product.

Few issues that reflect the company is not serious about it's sale is the kind of Dealers it has opted in Metros Hyderabad and Bangalore. The Service center looks skeletal and orphaned in the absence of company Renault trained technicians for Fluence service. Absolutely no advertising when compared to other brands in parallel. The advertisement campaign of Nissan Sunny for that reason has created more market than the Fluence which come from the same stable. Wish if someone can appraise as to what are the customer's rights if the car company's after sale service and spare availability is bad. What is the immunity that the a car buyer has from being taken for real life ride after shelling out 15Lakhs for a car expecting it to last at least 6+ years in good shape. Few change, unlike me, a car at 1Lakh KM or 4 years for the reason that their are better models launched by then. At a juncture when i almost thought of not buying the car for the reason that the service is bad and expensive when compared to any other car in this segment, i got a call from the Dealer saying that the price has been rolled back by 1.20Lakhs as a special offer for a limited period for the E2 version. The E2 On road price in Hyderabad is now 14.36 Lakhs. The much awaited and loaded highly priced E4 still stands at 17.10 Lakhs on road.

As most of the car enthusiasts have felt that E2 is high priced for the features; wish to now know if the revision is welcome and good to stand ahead in the market or is it a step to clear the stock yard at Sriperumbattur plant.

Upgraded and "enhanced" diesel version to be launched today.

Upgraded Renault Fluence diesel to launch April 3, 2012| Zigwheels.com

EDIT: Thanks to Vid I updated my post

I believe that they are planning on an upgraded diesel engine. The 1.5dCi in fluence was a 105bhp motor but now they plan to launch the 110bhp tune. What's also interesting is that this 110bhp tune is available with a dual clutch gearbox internationally.

Will Renault pull out a diesel AT with dual clutch?

The car is launched, it's a slightly tweaked engine with the same peak torque of 240NM, but the power has increased (almost negligibly) - from 105bhp to 108bhp (110ps). Apparently this is drastically improves turbo lag and performance in city conditions.

Someone should drive it to verify. For me, i will still consider this as an overpriced car with an under-powered engine.

That explains the significant price hike on the Fluence diesel from April. Any idea if there is any update to the E2 trim?

So looks like no AT introduced and just the same E4 diesel as before with a retuned engine with 110PS now. Hopefully turbo lag is reduced.

What's surprising is the price increase. Earlier ex-showroom was 14.4L and now I'm seeing 15.2L. 80K for barely 5bhp increase?

I guess the price difference is inflated by increased excise duties.

Well, the price list was once updated soon after the Budget. So if they have increased the prices again, that would be interesting. Also, the features that are said to be added were already present in the E4 Diesel trim, which itself was only a recently added offering. And what happens to the E2? Still selling with the non- updated engine?

With this hike, the distance between the Fluence and the Jetta - Laura duo seems to narrow further. Not very wise for Renault, IMHO.

E2 Diesel advantage edition has also been launched recently at 11.99L (Ex-Showroom)..

Agree 100%. Even before the price hike, the E4 was 17.8 L OTR, while Laura Ambition AT TDI was 17.78 after discount. Now E4 will be costiler than the Laura AT, which IMO is not a good situation for Renault to be in. Had they sold it around 15L OTR Bangalore, it would make some sense.
