Since I was driving on the fast lane, didn't have enough time to slow down to check it out. A few weeks back I remember reading a similar tow incident on Hosur road / silk board junction posted on this forum. Wonder what's going on with these brand new vehicles. My W8 delivery is next week and I should say that I'm more concerned than exited (after spending over 15lakhs)

I would say just relax and go for it. XUV is a nice car no doubt. I saw one Audi SUV (dont remember which model was it) being towed on NH8 today. This does not mean that Audi is not worth it or a person planning to buy Audi SUV should be concerned.

All vehicles be it Audi, Merc, BMW, maruti etc get some issue or other once a while. Remember these are just machines and bound to have some problems creeping up now and then.
Just my 2 cents.:)

@smopuri: The XUV500 is a first for Mahindra from many aspects, Unibody, construction, Transversley mounted power train, Traction control, etc. It is quite normal that you will see some issues in the first couple of years. This is why mahindra is giving some warranty deal for first set of buyers.

MAYBE - The tow truck was used to transport the XUV from the stockyard to the Dealer's showroom. Huge Car-Transport trucks are not allowed inside the city till late night and is a nuisance to bribe at every junction. Also, the showroom needs to have staff at late hours to receive the vehicle, check, and do other internal logistics.

Tow-trucks are allowed in the city anytime as it is considered a "Recovery Vehicle". This is the best way to transport the XUV from a stockyard to the dealer during business hours.

I wouldn't really worry about that. None of them are new technology, and professional design and development consultation for all of these are available end-to-end in market, I have enough data to believe MnM used for XUV.

Best proof is XUV wouldn't have received 5 star saftey rating exceeding Euro 5, if their unibody was badly designed with a poor transverse engine mounted with an unusable TC.

The only question is about how well MnM put things together and what precision their sourced components can offer.

By the way Aria was first on many design aspects for TATA, but I didn't see such an enthusiasm from the market, Just my opinion, no offense meant.

If you wish to digress :-) Aria is still a body on frame vehicle with a Longitudinally mounted power train, RWD, with T-Case (and front axle). Does this combination ring a bell in other Tata, Mahindra vehicles? XUV on the other hand is a completely different Cheeta. All, I am saying is that Mahindra had no in house expertise before, so they must have learned from the *consultants*.

I didn't say anything bad that requires any cheeta fan to jump in defence. All I said that it is a new game for Mahindra and somethings will be learned only in due course after the cheeta has spend enough time in the real world. Is that a fair statement??

My point here is, we have not heard of any problems related to XUV's Unibody, engine mount or TC yet. So it is highly hypothetical to say because these are new to Mahindra, we can expect some issues.

Maybe hypothetical, but issues with Univody, engine mount, TC etc don't show up until you have clocked significant amount of miles.

I will be willing to bet that there will be significant upgrades/modifications in two years to the XUV500 based on real world feedback. You only need to look at mechanicals of first generation scorpio and the one tow years after that. I am not talking about cosmetic changes, but engine, gearbox, suspension, etc...

Just to add to your view point, how true is the M&M claim of 100's of 1000's of km testing across multiple countries? If they really did that, why are some simple niggles not taken care of? If they really performed what they claim, then chances of encountering any major mechanical related issues are less. But, I have not seen or heard that they got any certification from independent agencies to support their claim. Hence the concern.

XUV is a global vehicle for M&M so I assume they would have taken enough care of testing it. Sure, few niggles are bound to come now and then but that doesnt mean that the car is fundamentally flawed.

Another market apart from India where Tata and M&M compete fiercely is South Africa, and Scorpio enjoys a tremendous fan base there.

Hey, are you sure that the XUV5OO has received a 5 star crash test rating?

Relax, it is not such a bad product after all. It may for all you know being transported for delivery.

Is that a fact ? If yes it is not being hilighted by M&M itself.

Tata maimed the Aria by pricing it unrealistically, and despite efforts it has almost faded away.

We will know once the vehicles have clocked some decent mileage, but I doubt we can expect it to be as sturdy as the Jeep's (M&M) which keep going on an one even after 6 figure miles on the odo.clap:

Just to give an idea how a simple set of alloys can do wonders to this car. Here's mine :D

Nice set of alloys. Did you fix wider tyres? Do let us know the specs o=n that.

So I reckon your tyre tronics are not working any more? Or Is it a W6 which comes without TPMS?

Cheers !

Thanks bro. No these are standard tyres that came with the car. And since mine is a W6, hence no TPMS:)

My ODO is 6k as of now.

And its great to see atleast 3-4 XUVs on the road everyday, especially after having been a lone rider with all jealous eyes on me for a while lol:

So the bookings have been closed now right? Guess it was till 9 PM on feb 3rd. Does anyone know the latest numbers garnered? What I knew was 8000 by the end of 3rd day [official]. Not sure how many bookings raked in in the last 4 days!
