Please find the snap, highlighting the same. No new holes were put in the car's under body and it was fitted in the standard provided area for the foot board.

I did try to get some corporate discount, they are ready to give me all the discounts on any other vehicle but not on XUV 500. Our company has a specific deal with VVC Motors which even didnt work with XUV..

Thanks very much Jamal and dkjain! Price seems pretty reasonable and agree with point about the gaps with the M&M official footrest. I am also not a fan of the chrome that is part of the official M&M accessory.
Quick question, is this as sturdy M&M footrest? I heard from other bhpian's that the original footrest is pretty solid and of high quality.

Why was the "Amazon Green" color for the XUV500 discontinued ? It was the best color of the lot IMO.

Low demand I guess. I've not seen many greens on the road.

Also, there could be one more reason.
Mahindra was charging 10K as cancellation penalty for Green and Purple vehicles whereas for other colors the penalty was only 1K. (This info is from the 1st booking lot. The numbers might have changed now).

They always do this. The best colour for these SUV's in my opinion are these milder, less intrusive natural shades, like Greens, Greys, Silvers, and Khaki tones etc.
However, these shades do not seem to have ever found favour with the Indian SUV buyer.
Anonymity and subtlety are bad words here. Max Flash for the Cash seems to be the preferred buzz word!

Thanks balenoboy! Too bad we are not able to squeeze out anything on the xuv. The vvc guys have I formed me that the vehicle will be ready for delivery by the first week of October. I am planning to try and take delivery on any of the auspecious days after the first week. Need to plan finances as well

That's really sad. I think it was one of the best colors ever for the XUV500. Made it look extremely macho and butch and at the same time toned down the over-done curves and "cheetah" inspired front.

A dull medium to dark grey, dark woody brown, khakhi (RE desert storm style) and military green are the best SUV colors. They give the vehicle the butch, made-for-road look and feel.

I agree with the max flash for the cash mentality of Indian buyers. My dad bought a "California Gold" Maruti 800 EX 5-Speed in 2000-2001. A couple of years back he upgraded to a gold Hyundai i20 selling the M800EX. And last year he bought a gold TVS Wego. I feel like puking whenever I see gold on vehicles now, even if its a color that suits the car/bike :Frustrati

In the case of the Yeti, they offer some rather delicious and subtle shades in the European and other Western/ Developed markets.
These shades do not come over to India and probably never will because most of our consumers here want the Flash quotient afforded by that Mato Brown or whatever.

I wonder, suppose one were to pay the booking amount and say that there is no problem with time, then, since these are CKD kits, will they be able to source the colour of choice for the buyer? While this should be possible technically, my guess is that the typical manufacturing company bureaucracy will put a full stop to it!

I remember 4 or 5 years back, writing to the Senior most Managers in Mahindra and asking them if I could pay up my booking amount and order the colour of my choice. In that case it was a discontinued colour Called Turf Green. I was told politely and in no uncertain terms that there was absolutely no chance. I fail to understand this. They have a damfool customization department that regularly churns out monstrosities of design. Things which are neither fish nor fowl in other words and which completely lack aesthetic sense and functionality to boot. But they cannot do a simple thing like a paint job request and that too, for a colour they were offering but have very recently discontinued! I guess that their whole team is busy running about in the Masai Mara getting chased by Cheetahs and such! (Very snide remark I know, but I don't feel particularly apologetic, so help me God!)

I think that all these big manufacturers would do well to spend more time, energy and effort in looking after their consumers! I mean, the kind of coustomer service that one gets from someone like a Big Box Retailer like a Shoppers Stop or Lifestyle is so much better. Just consider the value of the typical products one buys at these retail establishments and compare that amount to the cost of a blasted car!

I simply cannot understand why, apparently, the higher you go up the value chain in terms of price, the quality of service becomes inversely proportional! Unless of course, one has invested in some relationships directly at the dealership or service place OR if one has a line in to higher management or something like that, which fact, one can dangle over the dealerships' ugly heads like the proverbial Sword of Damocles!

And Yes, I also dislike most intensely that rather ghastly 'gold' which you have spoken so eloquently about. That ghastly gold shade is somewhat reminiscent of the normal human substances which are expunged from the intestinal system. To add a little fuel here, I also dislike the ghastly beige interiors which are such a big hit in our country. I will liken that shade to something similar to the earlier comparison made, however, with the distinction that this beige interior shade is more akin to the 'canine' variety of the above.

It is sturdy and can withstand a weight of close to 200kgs plus - The shop guy made u people stand on it to confirm the sturdiness. It did not even bend a little bit. clap:

Couldn't agree more. Besides, the beige interiors our cars normally come with are dangerous when driving at night. They cause too much reflection from the wind shield and this is not at all safe. The quintessential rubbish of an answer we receive to the question "Why beige ?" is "Beige is easy on the eye, generally acceptable and makes the car feel roomy while darker colors are claustrophobic". So an optical illusion of claustrophobia is not acceptable while danger to drivers at night is considered acceptable.

Its about time Indians in general matured in taste.
