It seems Renault also took advantage of the loop hole CMVR rules which calculate GC from lowest metal point in the under body like M&M did with XUV500.
Duster has plastic stone guard, hence GC is calculated not from the level of stone guard but from some thing else which above this guard.
So what would be the actual GC of Duster when compared to Fiat Linea which has 185 MM with a metal stone guard?
Can anyone throw some light on this?
What is the real life milage in city and highway for duster?
Cost of paid service after 20 Km ?

Bangalore city mileage for me on 85ps is around 11.5kmpl with A/C On.
On highway I get 16kmpl with a speed between 110-120kmph for most stretches.
Here is a link to my fuel log and expenses since purchase.

Follow Neil Roy's post for above 20k km service expenses. He has crossed 50K on the odo.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask but has anyone done a Leh/Ladakh with a Duster? What is the experience? Can someone please guide me to any thread with such a theme? Couldn't find anything in the travelogue section.

Thanks a lot. My decision is made. :)
Okay- facing a unique problem with the Stereo.
Its getting auto-switched off in exactly 10 mins.
It is NOT flashing " Enter Code"
You switch the Power Button and it starts as if nothing happened. Highly irritating. Any solutions?
Thats strange, try factory reset and see if it works. As far as I remember, it does not have a sleep option.
Read somewhere that new Duster Adventure will come in automatic. Any clue on when this is expected?

Once the ignition is switched off, as per the design the radio is supposed to switch off automatically after 10mins(not sure about the duration).

Disconnect the battery for a couple of mins. On reconnecting, you will get the Enter Code screen, confirm with pressing buttons 5&6. If you had already tried this, then ask the dealer to reflash the radio s/w.

Green cotton filter is available at pete's for 85ps version. The cost will be below 5k only. |
I have installed the K&N filter and with this my plan for the 1st set of mods is over. The difference is apparent in the high gears. I did an ECU reset by disconnecting the battery overnight and waiting for the ECU to adapt the new change. Since the engine is able to breathe more it gives the option for a better fueling map.
@Mods, please merge this post with the previous one.
I had the same problem of Radio/USB/CD switching off after 10 minutes of playing. Well the issue was traced to a blown fuse. After replacing the same it became ok. Cheers

That's too low! I drive a 85 ps and get 16+ in city and 19+ on highway - in Bangalore. I have already done 9k KMs.

Good to know Pahwa. I'm not good with mileage. Basically not light on foot. I somehow got liking for that turbo thrust. Mine is 85 too.
Consider this as worst mileage. When expectations are set low, better mileage will be a bonus with smiles. What say?
You must give some tips on your driving style. Within city I could get around 15 at best. Highway numbers are achievable.

Yes, could be the fuse in the live feed which stores the settings.

It is indeed very low. I am consistently getting 17.2-18.1 km/l in city with occasional A/C (ORR ITPL-Bannerghatta road) and 15.6 -16 km/l on spirited driving.
I usually shift at 2000-2500 on each gear. Since remap, it reaches these rpms quickily and so even this wont look like a sedated drive. On spirited drives, I shift ~3000-3800 for each gear. You can relate this with the mileage figures.

What kind of speeds do you maintain on the highway?
On a recent trip (that covered bangalore-mumbai-nashik-surat-pune-bangalore) i got a average mileage of just under 18.
I was usually targeting speeds of 110-120 KMPH, on busy sections 80KMPH.
A bit of city driving was also involved.
- Inside Bangalore, my average speed is almost always less than 20 KMPH. So mileage is ~14 KMPL.
- The best mileage recorded in the city is 17
- The best mileage i got on highway was 21 (with speeds of 80-100)
- I always drive with AC on, to keep dust out.
- mileage numbers are as per Duster's MID
It looked like to get the best mileage, speeds will have to be limited to 80-100 KMPH range. Possibly the 2K to 2.5K rmp.
