Can anyone comment of the wind noise inside the cabin(without music playing) at speeds ABOVE 120 kph in the Duster ?
1. No wind noise.
2. Barely audible.
3. Somewhat noisy.
4. Very noisy.

This is an important factor for my purchase decision.
Thanks.

I think more than the wind noise it is the MRF tires that create the racket. Then again, I am yet to drive this vehicle much beyond 120.

We've a AWD at home, and my pick is point #3.

It's mostly coming from the roof rails, there isn't much that we can do about it. That said, at very high speeds like this I don't think any sub 15 lac SUV can completely drown out wind noise.

Somewhat noisy
However if you are listening to some music , I guess it wouldn't bother you too much

As others mentioned, it surely is not as quiet as the sedans. But I have gotten used to it. Add to it as @Zappo mentioned tyres also make a difference. But then the pricing between a Michelin and an MRF is also huge.

Once again many thanks for the detailed analysis. Have been testing FE in city run by keeping the rpm on 1800-2200 range for the couple of days and could find improvement in FE. Generally mileage reduces by a point in city drive however this is maintained constantly. During minimal traffic, could see FE improving by at least by 0.1 which was not the case earlier, I used to drive in the range of 1200-1500 rpm.

Guys try this out:
1. Turn the air direction knob towards foot and/or windshield.
2. Turn the temperature selection to full Hot.
3. Keep the fan speed at 2 or 3.
4. Keep the engine running of course or if you are driving that's alright too.

After 5mins try to turn the air direction knob back to face (all they way clock wise). Drop in your observation.

Not sure if this feature works on Dusters older than 2 years alone or all.

Hillman,

I can try that shortly, but could you please share what am I supposed to observe in this process?

What feature exactly? Not very clear from your post, hence the question.
(Our Duster is 2013 May production)

Guys, just did some waterless washing of our Duster.
It took almost 1liter water + PROKLEAR wash concentrate (10ml) for the whole car.

I'm fairly happy with the result.

Thanks,

Ace.

Can you please help people understand what is generally supposed to happen? Also, is this so called feature supposed to be there in all the variants of Duster?

Tried in my one and a half year old Duster. I didn't notice anything apart from what's obvious :) What is it anyways ?

Nothing exciting. Just wanted add some curiosity into the mix :D

Anyway, here is what happens. This is something I can replicate anytime of the day. The A/C vent knob jams and wont turn right from the point where the air flow is set towards Foot & Face.

Hot air seem to affect with the flaps inside.

Hi rudra, could you pl update the performance post installation of K&N filter. Is yours 85 or 110? How much did the filter cost?

Thanks in advance.

There is a good improvement with the K&N especially in the revs in the 2nd and 3rd Gear when the Turbo kicks in. I would recommend it - Do clean it with the K&N Cleaning kit once every 7,000-8,000 kms to continue with the performance - Though the recommended cleaning interval is much higher.

A couple of Days Back completed a BLR - Chennai trip with 100% AC on my 110 RXL and got am amazing mileage of 20.4 Kmpl. Return trip used a Bit of Heavy Right Foot and the Mileage was 18.4 Kmpl. Still think its pretty impressive for a 110 Bhp Block. :uncontrol

Method Used: Tank Full to Tank Full and also the same numbers reflect in Dash as well.

What is the best mileage that you guys extracted from your Duster in 110 Bhp avatar ?

Hi, that was an a awesome mileage for a 110. what was the rpm range you maintained for FE of 20.4? Guess there wasn't much of traffic on your onward journey.

I too own a 110 PS and my highest till date was 18.5km.

Recently I made a 1500 km long trip from Kolkata to Sitamarhi ( a small town near bihar -nepal border) and back on my duster 110. Got an overall mileage of 17.6 .I drove on four lane expressways, a 20 km ghat section and on two lanes ( NH 31 and all). AC was switched on for most of the time except when I was driving through the ghats. I am quite happy with the performance of my duster.

Attaching a picture of my beast:D
