Fair point. The dealer is front ending the insurance. He is offering a choice insurance providers.

I am sure that the scam is that they are trying to wiggle away from a contractual commitment - an illegal act.

Once they have accepted payment, they are bound to fulfill their end of a contract. For whatever reason, they do not want to. But they are trying to set it up as though I do not want the insurance. If I give them the account details, I think they can de facto claim that I am reneging on the deal and hence escape audit censure.

I've got a Dec 2015 Duster 85 bhp that has just run about 1700 km. A couple of days back, I noticed some bluish smoke from the exhaust while driving steadily on the NICE road (non bangaloreans, this is a highway class toll road). No indicator lights came on in the dashboard. After a km or so, the problem disappeared completely.

I took the car to the Renault service center on Hosur Road and the guy checked and smelled the exhaust and said there was no problem.

Should I be worried? The problem has not recurred but I read on the net that blue smoke means oil's burning. But the service guy was clear that there was no problem.

Thoughts?

Although your car is pretty new & this should not happen, Blue smoke usually means the Engine oil is getting burnt. Check the Engine oil level at regular intervals. If you see major drop, then it can get complex. Your piston rings/seals might need change.

To be very frank, not saying because I own one, but my respect also went up a few notches. I thought innumerable times before doing that drop since it was too steep & uneven. But once I was in it, It all went as smooth as it could. Hope you enjoyed the Highway drive as well.

Has anyone experimented with an additional blower for rear passengers in Duster?
Any idea where to get something that looks like this in Bangalore (image from Innova)

The front center A/C outlets could point upwards towards the roof mounted blower to bring in cool air and push to the rear seat.

What is the size (17 or 19 mm), I keep forgetting this.

Shot an email to Renault about the wind noise at high speeds. Got a prompt call next day from Renault and the issue has been notified to Khivraj Pearl Chennai. Went to Service Centre today for a test drive. Finally they agreed to the problem and have assured to replace the beading under warranty on 18th May. This issue was reported every time during the service to Khivraj and the prompt response was this has been attended to and resolved. Every time I had to get back and tell them that the issue persists.

I mentioned about the wind noise at 3rd year service. SA acknowledged that their was wind noise but he attributed it to 6" speakers because of which their is few mm gap between plastic doorpad and door at the front.

I am not sure how much his reason holds value, but for some reason I didn't pursue it. I guess with ever increasing Delhi traffic, reaching speeds > 80 where wind noise becomes irritable is becoming highly unlikely lol:

My duster is 2 years old and has covered 45000 Km. It never had any serious issues.

I wish to keep it for 2 more years, so gave my car a mid lifecycle cosmetic face lift.

Updated front end with new model's grill and to match with the same, added a custom mesh grill over the front bumper.

Rear end got new model's tail lamps with the so called led. It is not plug and play type, so the service agent took close to 2 hours in sorting out the wiring.

Blackened the rear quarter glass along with that added a custom team bhp vinyl over D pillar.

I am sharing the pictures below.

Looks good anilntny. How much do the rear lamps cost ? Is it a straight fit ?
