The parts for BMW would be at least twice as expensive than for Skoda IMO. If I am doing a lot of running, I would keep at least Rs. 75,000/- - Rs. 1,00,000/- a year for BMW maintenance. If lower running / self drive, you can probably get away with the same amount as Skoda.
Sorry I'm not directly answering your Q but on a related note, my understanding is that its VERY advisable to go in for max tenor BSI with these vehicles. Makes even more sense if you hold your vehicles for a long time. Do consider this aspect too after speaking with existing owners.
Happy shopping.
Cheers,
We recently took delivery of a 320D in Chennai. I was playing around with the iDrive and found that in the settings for sport mode there is an option to adjust both the suspension and drivetrain or just one. This made me wonder if the current 3 Series in India has adaptive suspension. If not it seems weird that they would give that option in the drive settings.
During the monsoons I noticed that the running board; specially the gap between the door border and sill gets very easily soiled due to muck. I am planning to get mud flaps fitted. The dealer has quoted 10000 for a set. The thing is that if a single flap falls off then I ll have to buy a full set again. Also I don't want to spoil the cars looks. Can anyone post snaps of their car with mud flaps? Mine is a white 320 d.
^ BMW builds their
10 millionth 3'er sedan & its being rolled off the assembly line at the company's plant in Munich, Germany.
A proud moment for all 3'er owners :thumbs up

I'm being offered a 2012 CBU 328i Luxury Line with 20k on the Odo for 20l. The car is in scratchless condition, but sadly the beige interior does have a few dark spots in places (nothing that a 3M session can't fix). The dealer has also offered extended 1 year warranty for 1 lakh extra. I'm buying this from Deustche Moteren this was their dealer car, and is a CBU.
Surprisingly this doesn't have the rear blinds. It also makes do without the paddle shift steering, sunroof or HUD like the Sport Line. There are some little niggles here and there (no badge in rear, one of the rear light is loose etc) but nothing out of the ordinary. I have booked the car and waiting for loan approval. What do you guys think?
I'm attaching some pictures and a VIN report

Yes, the beige interiors are definitely a dirt magnet and would be tough to keep clean. But don't have any other 328i for sale in India which I can get with warranty. What did you finalise? And what deal was offered to you for this particular car?

This seems to be a press car, if you read Autocar you would remember there was a track test in 2012 in which they had used a luxury line 328i, here's the video;

Hey Karan, I don't think this is the press car because this car is in the name of the dealership. And in my hunt for 1 series and other cars earlier I came across a lot of press cars and they were all in the name of BMW India. I would have avoided it if it was a press car for sure.

There was a red one some months back, with 37-40k on the odo. They are there but far between.
I haven't finalised anything yet. Wife says petrol isn't practical for the Noida- Lucknow runs. (I guess she has a point there). Contemplating a 320D.
Yeah I agree. My dad is also giving me a hard time saying that I could buy a nice diesel sedan at that price. (Car+Warranty+Insurance) is costing around the same league as 320d's and there are so many 320's for sale in all trims/varients and price ranges. But you only live once right? :D
I know a great 320d 2014 model done about 26000 kms for sale. The asking price is 25 inclusive of insurance etc. 328i has 18 inch rims and ride quality is iffy on bad roads. Think about diesel engine as they have all the power u need. My two bits. BTW the car is a Sportsline black interiors.

Dealer cars are a mixed bag really.I speak from personal experience as I was being offered a 530d with the Kolkata dealer sometime back. One look at the interiors and I didn't even want to drive it.
20k kms is a lot on a dealer car, keeping in mind the way they treat the car.The seemingly small niggles that you point out are signs of neglect. Its the same with the way the car is driven/parked/handed over to multiple drivers over its life with the dealer. In case you still have a choice, wait it out for a low mileage example.A 30k done single owner would still be better than a dealer car that's done 20k in multiple hands who really don't care beyond the drive at hand.Give it a thought.:thumbs up

I agree with you there, and in my due course of searching for a car I've come across all kinds. But the biggest deterrent is the non availability of warranty on the cars available in the market. 328i's are hard to come by, and the chances of finding one under warranty or BSI is very slim. I've went through the car with a fine toothed comb and am very specific about even small niggles.
Its always a calculated risk with a used car, thankfully with the warranty and full insurance cover (on the tyres and rims) I think I will be fine. I am just not able to trust most of the used car dealers in the market, they are always upto something shady, I had almost finalised a 1 Series earlier. But did not just because the person I was going to buy it from seemed 'shady' to me. At-least here I can catch the dealers neck if anything goes wrong.
