VW dealer said that the production of the 1.2 TSI engine is on halt. The company will be resuming production of engines only in End February- March 2019. They are not sure about the new specs on the GT TSI.

Are the 1.2 engines soon to be replaced by the 1.0 TSI 95bhp engines? Or is it a end of lifecycle facelift for the 1.2 GT TSI. Heard that the current 1.2 TSI engine is not BS VI compliant.

Any news in this regard?

I got a quote for 2 year extended warranty for 9.3 k and one service pack for ₹6999. Also offers on minor paint works, wheel alignment. I believe this is a Pan India offer valid till Feb 10th 2019.
Mine is a 1.3 years old gt tsi.

One of the street dogs outside my building loves to sit on the roof of parked cars, and she must have been exceptionally hungry one night because she bit the tip of my car antenna off. :Shockked:

I wanted to get a sharkfin antenna (a functional one, not the caps you get on AliExpress), but after hearing about reception woes with the OEM Jetta antenna, I gave up that idea and settled for a stubby antenna with a metal body. That dog is in for a nasty surprise if she tries to chew on this one. stupid:

Plug-n-play, and the reception is actually better than the OEM antenna.

I also bought these wheel lug covers on AliExpress. They are made of plastic and have a tight fit, and the wheels definitely look nicer. There is a pin provided to remove them when required.

Anyone installed an aftermarket Tachometer in the TSI? I'm fully aware that there is a tacho but wanted to check the possibility of an aftermarket install.

Got GT-fied yesterday,

Took delivery of my MY 2019 Carbon Steel Grey color GT TSI.

Noticeable changes are as below,

> New GTI type seat covers (pic attached)
> Light in the glove box
> Higher ground clearance (maybe my imagination at work)
> Spoiler same as the recent GT sports version
> 4 year warranty from the factory under the 4Ever care scheme
> 3 free services in the first year spaced at 1000/ 1 month , 7500/ 6 months and 15,000/ 1 year.
> got the OEM handrest fitted from the showroom itself

First 70km drive home

> Found lights to be adequate on the usual unlit roads (I use a Creta 2nd gen for reference)
> Gearshifts are not noticed much
> solid build quality especially the feel of the doors
> Had to put the seat almost all the way back for a comfortable seating position
> so rear seat space would be minimal
> Decent fuel efficiency of 14.2 by the time I parked the car at home
> Found sound quality to be decent
> Horns sound funny
> The ride on Apollo Alnac 4G's were just ok, while road noise is less, I felt the suspension to be hard on bad roads.

This is the first German car in my family and hope to have a fun-filled time driving it and taking it to places.

A light in the glove box is sorely missed, so it is a good addition. :thumbs up

As for the horn, I recommend the VW upgrade. The plug is already there in our cars, and it takes 5 minutes to install the horn. I paid ~3K for it.

What is the VW upgrade ? Could you share more details and how to procure it ?

GT comes with single tone horn, they add the 2nd horn and sound is miles better. Get it done at any service center

Congratulations, and welcome to the GT TSI family.

Have you considered getting a tire upgrade? The Michelin PRIMACY 3 ST 195/60 R15 is a popular choice. I have been using them for 3-4 months now, and the noisy Apollos are a faint memory.

The suspension is one of the GT TSI's weaknesses. If your budget permits, you can consider a sports suspension like the Bilstein B6 kit.

Please post clear photographs of the seats / upholstery. Would be interesting to see what it looks like.

The bulb in the glovebox was much needed and it's nice that they're adding it, but it baffles me to this day that the boot does not have a boot-light. It's a basic feature and ought to be in a car that costs 12 lakh on the road!

The Vento style horn is an official accessory. So you have to ask for the horn upgrade or Vento style horn at the showroom, as most service centres don't keep accessories in stock.

I was in your position a couple of months ago before I decided to take the plunge. I should warn you from personal experience that it can become an all-consuming (time AND money) endeavor. I am a shameless copycat of Gannu's DIYs, and plan to do most of them on my GT TSI except the really expensive/crazy stuff like instrument cluster, BCM, cruise control, etc. My most challenging DIY (also my first) so far has been installing the armrest (the cup-holder version). Installing the OEM Jetta IRVM kit is my next "big" challenge.

Also, be prepared to spend good money putting a tool box together, if you don't already have one. You just can't start on most of the DIYs without the right tools for the job. I started with a screwdriver and a set of pliers. My wife was joking the other day that I should start running a garage on the weekends so all the tools I have bought can pay back for themselves. :uncontrol

I'm into DIY with my W124s, just haven't started on the Polo. I already have a tool kit to rival most mechanics.
