Ecosport is essentially based on the Fiesta platform, so an ecosport sedan will actually be a Fiesta.

I bought it from a tool shop in Kaloor, Cochin. Cost me 800 after a discount of 50.

I notice your boot is only having a carpet. Might I suggest you go in for the 3D Trunk Tray accessory from Ford? Its a high-quality product, and is very useful in keeping the boot floor clean, and maintaining it in a clean state, and saving wear and tear on the fabric carpet.

Can the existing owners of EcoSport 1.5 Petrol and 1.0 EcoBoost post the real world fuel efficiency figures?

Also, how is the driveability in congested city traffic? Which suits more to heavy traffic, 1.5 P or 1.0 Ecoboost?

I am fine with few missing features, if the FE and driveability are drastically different.

This response may sound like an exception however atleast for me the fuel economy figures have varied between 10 kmpl to 18 kmpl (now back to 16) over these 22K kms of use on my 1.5p. Driving in city traffic is convenient however feels underpowered while overtaking due to its weight. It also translates to a more frequent downshifting when the engine drops RPM

I can only tell you about the ecoboost engine. I use it for my daily office commute and weekend errands (so mostly short runs in the city). Although I have some empty stretches it is mostly stop and go traffic for 50% of my 12 KM journey. My FE is mostly around 10.5 Kmpl with AC. Mind you this is before the oil change. Not sure if the figures will get better. I had a highway run once, 70% good roads and it returned me a FE of 12.8 Kmpl (4 mid-heavy sized adults and some light luggage). I was though not driving for FE and mostly my speeds where over 100 kmph.
This engine is build for highway drives. Overtaking is a piece of cake. In city the turbo lag is noticeable and sometimes irritating in stop and go traffic. You always have to downshift to first gear when going over speed bumps. But will I buy this knowing all this over the 1.5? YES. The joy I get whenever I have a few minutes of open road in front of me is enough to live with those small quarks.

I am awed the reports of 15+ for these petrol engines. That's not possible with practical driving. You simply cannot get those figures in city, in places like Bangalore.

13-13.5 on EcoBoost is the *best* you can manage with 60-70% A/C in city.

If you are peak hour commuter, expect not more than 12.

In Bangalore, I get 11-12 km/L with the 1.0 EcoBoost engine within the city/ORR.

Driveability in severe stop-and-go traffic is fine, since 1st gear is well placed to get moving easily.

On the other hand, driveability in slow but heavy traffic is rubbish, since the 1.0 EcoBoost fails the "2nd gear speedbreaker" test (i.e. at a slow speed, changing to 2nd gear drops the rpm below the torque band, which bogs the vehicle down). As a result, you'll find yourself having to toggle between 1st and 2nd gears, which is a bore. This has been my biggest gripe about the gear ratios, and is a serious killjoy. I console myself by waiting for open stretches, where I can gun the engine in 2nd well beyond 80 km/h :)

I suspect that the 1.5P will have better driveability in traffic since it is naturally aspirated, and power comes in progressively. I have heard that this engine, however, is somewhat tame on open stretches - while not weak, it doesn't give the explosive feel of Ford's 1.0 or 1.6 engines.

@naveen.raju / @ACM : I just got my ecosport after the above mentioned works. I was assisted by the head of service at Kairali Ford - Cheranellor (Cochin) - Mr. Rakesh.

Must say I have finally received some great feedback, advise and assistance on the issue.
He said it is a known issue and after my 30 min test drive on patchy roads, the noise and all are gone.

And also with my issue on the noise from the engine on slow speed, he said its normal and was there for all the ecosports at the service center. Mr. Rakesh himself owns an ecosport and he advised idling of the engine especially on cold starts/ high rev drives etc.

Rest all issues including the headlamp alignment, (I had upgraded mine to a philips xtreme vision +100%) Noise from the tail lamp area, etc have been cleared now.

** Only thing left is the replacement of the tailgate mounted break lamp which the service guys broke during my last service, which I did not notice as they had properly covered it up with glue.

But only thing still left is the noise while shutting the back doors, the sound is so metallic, that you never feel the door beeding. Anyone with the same issue

Thanks for the update. Can you let me know the exact problem causing the sound from the rear/tailgate and what was the solution? I am planning to rectify this issue next month when the car will be due for 20k service but I am seriously not confident with the Palarivattom service station but that's my only choice.

@naveen : I had got a small body work done and had to replace my tail lamp as i accidentally hit the pillar on my car porch. I had got the body work done at Kairali Body shop at Kalamassery.
According to the service guys in Cheranellor, the issue was while fixing the tail lamp, there was a spotting to be done to put the lamp into position. Ideally there should be a thin gap b/w the tail lamp and the body (due to this spotting), which the body shop guys didnt bother to fix.
That was the reason for the noise, and to my surprise the service executive found the issue ans explained it to me without me finding it out.

If you have time I would suggest you to take yours to Kairali ford Cheranellor. Mr. Rakesh (Service Head) is an ecorport TDCI titanium owner and he explains things to the point.

When I actually tested my ecosport diesel on a full tank to full tank test over a long drive. Cochin to S Bathery (Wayanad), which had a mix of traffic + highway + hairpins/curves + hills. for around 350 km. I got something around 21.34 or some with AC on.

I think mine is delivering something around 13 - 16 on city drives in and around cochin

With 8000 KM on Odo, my Ecosport AT's average is 8.5 KMPL (Petrol filled from COCO outlets). The car is driven mostly in Mumbai for office commute during rush hours (except 1000KM on two highway trips). The worst i got was 6.1 KMPL when a portion of road leading to my office was dug resulting in terrible jams.

AT driveability is comfortable within City. However, overtaking needs to be timed.

With AT version, you wont be missing too many features.

1.5 AT FE has been 10.5 in city for me and 12 on highways. This is all with a heavy foot. With a light foot highway runs of 13-14 are possible including a bit of city at both ends. This is after 20,000 kms.

Assume a lifetime average of 11 if buying the AT.

I don't find overtaking a problem as I simply press down on the accelerator sufficiently to get into kick down mode and overtake quite easily. But yes it does not feel as peppy as turbocharged engines feel in the mid range.
