Hi, I drive a 1.5p past 1yr. Mileage is around 12.5 in city and around 13 long with A/C all the time temperature set to 21deg.
I was told by the ASS that they can optionally add an additive to the engine oil which will improve the fuel economy by 1~2 kmpl. Has anybody heard/tried this? For the record, I'm getting 13.1 kmpl after 650 kms on the odometer on my Ecoboost, 80:20 highway:city driving and AC always ON at 20 degrees.

That left me in a dilemma. Is this common to EcoSports? Or was the car I drove a particularly badly-maintained specimen? What am I missing? So many satisfied customers can't be wrong !!! I have just received an offer to drive the dealership's MD's personal Petrol AT, but would love to get some feedback on the suspension and ride before I take up on the offer.

Your observation was absolutely correct. The suspensions very stiff, though it helps in cornering and quiet good control over body roll, its downside is harsh ride on low speeds. Even a small ditch will filter through the shockers into the car and will rattle it. I myself am facing problems of rattling sound from dashboard due to harshness in the ride.

Your usage and mileage figures are identical to mine. Also i dont think any additives will help. Should be really careful in putting some additives which are not verified by Ford especially in Ecoboost engine.

Hmm, Thanks ShivKumar.
13kmpl highway mileage is a tad low :( I am currently Struggling with the 15Kmpl that my Liva gives on my long drives. May be Diesel should be my choice.

Not sure if it is applicable to others, atleast my 1.5p delivers between 16 - 18 kmpl in city traffic. Highway is 14 - 16 kmpl depending on how heavy I go on the accelerator
You may notice that i was quoting a higher mileage earlier in the forum - yes it has come down by atleast 1 kmpl over 30K kms of use (or maybe my driving has gone worse)
I would say if you are not using the car for over 1K kms per month even with a lower mileage 1.5p would make more sense from a cost perspective

Do you manage to get more economy in the city than in the highways ? Do you have an A/T ?
Yes, my usage is low but avg driving might be more than 1K / Month. I have 0KM daily running, about 50kms of weekend use. My Liva munched most of its miles on the highways, where I can live with decent Petrol mileage. I am light footed, shift early than late and cruise at around 95-110 kmph. I am testing the Eco 1.5P tomorrow.
@Admin: Apologies if I am hijacking the thread, wanted to reach out to Ecosport owners. Will also post on 'Which Car?' thread.
The USB port in my Titanium seems to have died. There is no problem with the pendrive as the same pendrive works fine in all my other cars. But when I plug it into the EcoSport, sync just says 'Please plug in a USB device' or something like that.
Is this a known issue? Will be taking it to Ford today. I'm assuming this will be repaired/rectified under warranty? My car is barely 7 months old

Anand, it has a manual gearbox - yes city mileage is a tad better than highway mileage.
With 1200km/month usage I was breaking even with the same category (ambiente) diesel in the 5th year. This calculation was done in August'13, the equation may have changed a bit depending on fuel prices, Int rates and cost of the car.

For the floor itself, consider either Ford's official accessory - the 3D trunk tray. Although I'm not sure if its smooth/hard surface will prevent your dog from getting a comfortable grip (which breed, btw?). If not, you could consider a 3M Nomad mat, but again, I'm not sure if your pet's claws might damage that. Why not just buy a second carpet mat for the boot from Ford and keep one on top of the other. When you want a clean look, swap them around, and when its doggy-time, swap them back.
For the carpeting on the sides of the boot, I can only suggest a good carpet brush to clean up after the fact :D

I fully agree with wilful's assessment, its a harsh ride on bad roads. The body roll is low due to the stiffer suspension, but that also means that you easily feel imperfections.
Another factor that plays a role is the tire pressures that you run at. People have experimented with lower tire pressures to get some more comfort.
Just a curious question for folks owning 1L Ecoboost. Ford had mentioned 20kmpl FE for this engine. Has anyone seen such mileage? Also would love to hear long term ownership responses as well. The ownership threads I see are mainly diesel.
Ford Ecosport at Geneva motor show
Anyone noticed the suspension of Ecosport getting a little cushy as KM's munched?
My Ecosport Titanium TDCi has run 24K and i am getting a feeling that the suspension has become a little more cushy that it was earlier.
Below is 24K Update:
1.Zero Niggles and issue(touch wood).
2.FE is 18-19KMPL if maintained a speed of around 80-90 . 3 digits speed see FE dropping to 14-15. At times have managed 21KMPL as well.
3. As mentioned suspension is on harsher side, but have got used to and loving it. The Vento which i drive feels too bouncy in comparison now(it displaces potholes well though)
4. This is the first car in my driving history i.e is yet to scrap underbelly. Mighty impressed.
5. This is not a corner craver. One needs to respect the height of the vehicle.
6.Tires seem to last quite long. 24K and looks like can go another 25K. This is quite good in comparison to other vehicles i have(Vento26-28K,Innova-30K, Figo(now sold)=35K). All are diesels. The ecosport i have is running on stock MRF's .
7. Though straight line speed is good and stable, Ecosport struggles a bit in keeping up with powerful cars(read Polo GT,Vento,Verna etc). However things turnaround when the road condition worsens.Ecosport just blasts through and brings back the lost smile. Oh yes Road humps are Ecosport territory too.
8. Taller= difficulty in washing. Needs more time to wash. Good thing i get to spend more time with car :).
9. Turning radius is little on higher side. Should have had better radius given the compact size.
10. Auto folding mirrors/button to release boot sorely missed.
11. The front looks typical SUV. The tire mounting helps the rear look. The side profile could have looked(or actually) a little longer. That said the overall look is niche. Definitely not a me too category. Ask any non auto enthusiast about the comparison with say X1 or Q3 and be ready to be surprised.

No cushioning effect on mine even after 37k. Your other observations are spot on. My mrf's have another 20k left in them without the spare being used. If I had used it then the tires could have lasted another 10k extra.
