The EcoSport is a handsome car by itself, still very few posts for modified EcoSport in this thread, so adding mine.
IMO tastefully done stripes in a car can do wonders to its look. |
Racing stripes does suit the EcoSports sporty demeanour well!

Asking for a family member who is planning on buying a used 2015 Ecosport in the coming days:
Since the ICE is old school with a tiny monochromatic screen and no Android Auto/Apple Carplay, has anyone managed to retrofit the car with AA/AC? I tried looking for units on the internet and any thread on this forum where owners have managed to retrofit it, but to no avail!
Thanks in advance.

As far as I know, you can't retrofit the newer OEM HUs on an old variant since it is deep rooted to a lot of newer functions on the car. But, there are a ton of aftermarket options that are much cheaper and arguably better than the OEM one. Just search with the keywords "ecosport android" on amazon and you will find plenty.
The Kerala lock down started on 08 May 21. On 10 Jun21, I returned from my office in the evening in my 2018 Ecosport petrol, stopped the car in front of my house and leaving the engine running, I got down to open the gate. The road was totally empty with a distant wailing of an ambulance siren. I was just about to open the gate and “BANG", came a loud noise from behind. I turned back and to my utter horror, found a Maruti alto lying exactly where I had stopped my car.:Shockked:

The impact pushed back my car almost 10 meters. The guy in the Alto had injured his neck due to jerk and was in a fuzzy. He admitted that he became disoriented and lost control of his vehicle when he heard the loud siren and repeated horn blows of the ambulance from his rear. I am skipping the typical Indian post-accident formalities most of us might have suffered at least once in our life time.

There was no use in calling the service centre due to lock down. So I removed the broken plastic parts which were stuck between wheel and wheel arch, removed the head light, tied all the dangling wires to the chassis and pushed the vehicle to my garage.
I informed the call centres of Ford A.S.S and my insurance company about the accident and they both instructed me to take the vehicle to the service centre once the lock down is lifted. Sadly, the lock down got extended indefinitely and I realized that one of the greatest pains in the life is the helplessness you feel when you see your beloved car lying in the garage all disfigured and you cannot do absolutely anything about it. Finally on 11th, a one day relaxation on lock down was given and I managed to place my car in the service centre. Now awaiting total withdrawal of lock down as the work will be commenced only after that.
P.S- In the meantime, I did some online research on Ecosport accidents and found a video in the Youtube channel named “Romanovich Auto Surgeon". The car featured in the video is an Ecosport 4WD 2018 model. Interestingly, that car has a chassis front cross member which extends beyond the side members and curves inwards .

In variants available in India, the chassis front design is different. In my car, the only sold things available between the plastic bumper and the right wheel to cushion the impact were the front fender, plastic EVAP canister and a horn!

May be it is something exclusive to 4WD variants or something to comply with that county's safety regulations. Any way I feel that my car's wheel and suspension could have been saved from impact, had that structure been there.

Mods: kindly move this post to an appropriate thread.
Hi,
My Ecosport TDCi 2020 model is close 9 months old now. Has anybody noticed an abnormal level of inside cabin body rattle / noise?
While traveling alone, I seem to hear quite a few noises. There is one in the rear which even the Ford service guys couldn't find. It sounds like something shaking inside a plastic bottle. The front dashboard - both passenger and driver have minor rattles, including one right behind the steering wheel. It is definitely the plastic body for sure.
For Service is unable to catch / hear it and so haven't been able to fix it.
This happens more on concrete roads. On smooth / normal roads, there isn't any issue.
I have also noticed that the sound proofing is quite bad compared to other cars or even an older model of Ford. I can hear quite a bit of the outside noise, mostly vehicles whizz past.
Both these issues don't seem to exist in other cars.
Any insights will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Anand

Glad to know I m not the only one with strange rattles! They seem to be mainly coming from the dash corners and behind the center console and AC controls. FASS didn’t do anything about it in my last service. I am planning to approach a different center post lockdown.
Regarding the outside noise, I think the cabin is rather well insulated and only an agreeable amount of outside noise creeps in.

This is really sad and I am sorry that you had to go through this. When even small niggles could be subconsciously worrying, I can only image how devastating it would have been to have the car in this state in your garage. Hope the insurance settles and the car is fixed soon.
Could this have been avoided if the car was waiting off the road?
The Alto must have been going good speeds to have moved a 1200kg car almost 10 meters. It also seems to have handled the crash rather well.

Thank you for those nice words. Yeah, I too hope that the insurance process will be completed without much troubles.
As you can see in the image, there was not much "off the road" available to stop the car. Not only in my place, but in many places in Kerala, the authorities have widened the road without acquiring the adjacent land that road- shoulders are non existent.
The alto may look rather fine on the outside, but the wheels and steering were totally jammed that it had to be lifted off the road by the people gathered there. Even its cabin floor and accelerator pedal was bent.

On the rattling noise coming from the rear - I faced this for the first month and then after a lot of investigation realized that the rear seat backs were not locked into place properly and hence were loose! Please check if that is the case in your car. If yes, a simple solution is to lock the seat backs into place , which requires a bit of a hard slam back of the seat backs.
Have not heard any rattles or noises from the dashboard or anywhere else, the cabin seems tight and solidly put together.
Noise insulation is satisfactory as well, normal road noises creep in only to the extent required to be aware of the traffic around you, however, it is just like most other cars. Will not term is excessive noise.

Thanks for your message. Yes, FASS is not that helpful and unable to find the noise. Have you noticed any difference with / without passengers? I always have difficulty proving to FASS about the noise when their person is sitting next to me!

Thanks Arindam. The rear seats and the belts are locked in place. It is some other other irritating noise that FASS has not been able to find or agree with me in the first place.
I am beginning to suspect that the newer models may not have the sturdiness of the previous ones.

Interesting! Looks like this is so common among the ecosport. I faced the same issue and like you said, some hard slamming helped in getting it latched correctly.

Frankly, not just FASS, any service center guys are going to give the same treatment. Some says upfront if they cant find it or if it is normal. Some try to make you believe that they have spent enough time to try diagnosing the squeaks but in reality they wouldn't have even bothered to look at.
Please note that they hardly care about these little rattles coming from a corner of the car. They are more interesting in making a quick buck from the gullible customer with their service schemes and what not.

I've learned just now that there is no steering mounted button to play/pause music. What was the thought process of designers/engineers at Ford while adding 10 buttons there but none of them control one of the most important actions one would frequently use. I know that its not too much of an ordeal to stretch your hand to the massive screen and hit the pause button there. But I find it distracting and is not very accessible when you're on nav screen.
There is a lot of noise going on in one of the EcoSport FB forums.
Many people who have bought a 2021 model are facing DPF regen issues where the regen is just not happening. No one yet knows if its a sensor issue or DPF itself, but there are multiple posts. One guy seems to have contacted Ford multiple times and FASS is unable to regenerate dpf even after trying every possible way.
Same guy now says that he has confirmed news of all 2021 models being recalled soon for this issue and all dealers will stop delivery until end of July and that this applies to Figo, freestyle too.
Has anyone here heard of this yet or is facing DPF issues with 2021 models?

This is not exactly new, there were quite a few owners from 2020 also reporting unanticipated power loss/ jerkiness (both thought to be linked to DPF regen attempts by the engine, as per the owners) / DPF regen issues/ frequently seen DPF clog warnings etc. The accounts had made me quite jittery while booking Freestyle TDCi prompting me to ask frantic queries on this thread and elsewhere! :eek:There's been a talk of a recall/update since quite a while now- Ford has emailed few owners regd the same- timeline quoted was July'21.
Ford vehicles with BS6 1.5L TDCi engine are to get a software update, apparently- as per the emails sent by Ford to customers expecting delivery in next few days. Allegedly, all deliveries have been halted till 15th July.
