Wasn't it 3rd FREE service? Did you have to pay that amount or what?

Free service means no labour charges. You have to pay for parts and consumables. 1st and 2 nd free service is just inspection and wash, Bill would be zero.

True Sree. However, what needs to be seen is that of the 17,382 units, approx. 15197 are from Brezza and Ertiga alone. That leaves the S Cross and Gypsy doing a little over 2.2K between them.

Source of this info, please. Is the detailed sales report out?

Looks like SCross production is hit by Brezza demand. My colleague who is supposed to get Scross next week had been informed by Nexa about delay. No confirmed date is given about delivery!

Any idea guys if and when MSIL plans to launch the AT version of the 1.6? I loved the car (the manual one) that I test drove to bits, but cant think of using the MT for the next 5-6 years in this crazy traffic.

Forget AT, Maruti might discontinue the current 1.6 with manual transmission. S-Cross would be offered with AT in petrol variant soon.

Is it almost that sure 1.6 is well and truly out? It is sad. When 1.5 can exist what is wrong with 1.6. Maruti has to find a way to figure this.

Maruti believes in high volumes i.e. economy of scale due to which it presents formidable competition to rivals. Notwithstanding NEXA, Maruti Suzuki has yet to come to terms with low volume sales (cultural perspective). They love the taste of profit coming from high demand products devoid of any discounts inspite of minor price increases at opportune timings! For example earlier swift/ dzire and now Baleno and Vitara Brezza. This also helps achieve Maruti Suzuki better and advantageous terms with dealers. In reality they are in ideal situation for profit maximisation.

Besides duties associated with import coupled with low demand adversely affect profitability which is paramount business objective for any venture, govt policies and NGT's hyper-activism, emergence of better petrol engines, reduced gap between fuel prices of diesel and petrol, continued high taxes on diesel cars. All this indicate dead end for 1.6 engine.

Could as well mean dead end for the MJD 1.6 newer generation until of course Fiat has a golden change of heart

Would the S-Cross facelift have a bearing on the plans of 1.5 Petrol? As they are already having capacity crunch, could they infact consider delaying the Petrol variant, and launch it with the facelift next year?

AT variant of Vitara (Nexa) is speculated to come in its latest 1.4boosterjet configuration to India. The diesel of this will still be the 1.6 engine.
