Had gone to the NEXA showroom along with my wife to get the payment receipt for 1.3 Zeta booking done a few days back. On reaching the showroom, we had the following conversation
Wife : Why are you not buying 1.6 ? :Shockked:
Me : It is available only in top level trim and it comes close 15.5L.
Wife : You are going to keep this car for at least for next 10 yrs. So why don't you get a powerful vehicle that you like to drive.
Me : We already stretched our budget to buy 1.3 Zeta but we have to pull in another 3.5 Lakhs .
Wife : It is ok. The swift engine might not be enough for a bigger car like SCross. Also driving a powerful vehicle will be comfortable during trips to hometown. So get the car you like to drive.

With the surprise decision from my wife, we changed the booking to 1.6 Alpha. The only unfortunate point is that the color of our choice (brown) is not available in stock and the waiting period is mentioned as 16 weeks. So I am looking at a possible delivery of end Jan /Mid Feb 2017 . In a way, it is better because I would be getting a 2017 vehicle.:D

I often find that ladies do have uncanny brilliance as far as shopping is concerned. But I didn't very much expected this for car selection. Congrats Doo_Dev for booking of 1.6 and good decision making :thumbs up
I must say that performancewise this car is a sort of superstar !

Congrats buddy!!

I have seen many guys here upgrade the booking from 1.3 Zeta to 1.6 Alpha. I too did that :D. S-Cross production has resumed and I do not understand 16 weeks waiting period. I guess Maruti is waiting for fresh batch of 1.6 engines from Italy.

Many congrats on booking 1.6 Alpha.
You would happily wait till Feb 2017!!

Yeah, women are brilliant shoppers as they are blessed with an ability to easily spot value and need in a product.

Probably due to the fact that both of us are working in auto R&D domain for last 12 years or so:OT.

Not sure the powertrain availability in the reason , because even for 1.3 Zeta, the dealer was quoting a waiting period of 55 days ( 45 days for allotment + 10-12 days for post allotment tasks). Also, the dealer had a White 1.6 and is ready to offer a cash discount of 35k. Since I prefer darker shades/unique colors, decided to wait it out.

I had almost the exact same conversation with my wife about colour, when the dealer offered me a white 1.6 within a week (and I wanted anything other than white).
My wife called the white car "a blank canvas", you can customise the exteriors very easily if the base is white. So, since white is not your preferred colour, push the dealer for more discount, and put the money aside for 2-3 years later when you can blow it all up for some fantastic custom paint job.

Get a discount on the white and get it vinyl-wrapped. I got a quote from one workshop of 40k for complete body wrap in any glossy/matte colour. Worth the cost as it protects your paint better than any wax/teflon/PPF 😁

It's a pain to get the car registration changed to the color you decorate it with and then may be you change your mind a few months or years down the line and you need to get that updated in the RC again.

Congratulations ! I think you made a great decision.

Just one small correction. Scross 1.3 does not have same engine as Swift. Swift has 1.3 75 BHP FGT engine whereas SCross has a 89 BHP VGT engine. :D

Yes. I am aware of that but my better half is not aware. :D

Hello everyone i have scross 1.6 alpha which have completed 10k service last week.so far driving satisfaction is more than good but facing some small niggles like rear parcel tray makes irritating noise whenever i take it on uneven road also dual horns are pain.most of the times only single horn works. Told the service advisor to look for it while 5k service.after that for 1 week it worked normally but then same issue.also armrest have become filmsy and makes noise whenever you extend it fully.

Just before 3rd service started hearing humming noise from clutch(whenever you depress it makes low humming noise) i guess something to do with bearings if i am not wrong. Service advisor told me they have mailed the Maruti regarding this and they have asked me to took my car again to service centre (service centre was closed for 2days so no point in keeping my car with them).SA told me they haven't open the clutch yet as they have no parts for 1.6 with them and it will take atleast 2-3 days to receive it if anything have gone wrong. More than 50% drive have been in city traffic. I don't have a habbit of half clutch driving instead i keep changing between 1st & neutral Everytime. Don't know what made clutch go faulty at so early. My dad doesn't feel comfortable to take the car to service centre again and again instead he blames me for being over sensitive towards small niggles (thanks to Team Bhp ) : D

Hi all. My 1.3 Alpha Pearl White has been allotted (booked 8/10) and expected to arrive end this week. As I am traveling will take delivery on 12/11. Effective wait period has been 30 days. I asked the dealer not to do the anti rust and paint protection. Would be getting it done at 3M as I would like to be present when it is done. 3M is pushing for film for bonnet and roof to prevent from bird droppings. Please give me your suggestions.

Congrats. Am sure the above two items are going to cost a bomb for you. I'd say avoid it. All you need to do is to wash the car if you have bird poo on it.

Thanks swiftandfurious. When checked for the cost they quoted 26 K for the 2 parts to be coated in film. So I guess I will go for normal paint protection and anti rust and silencer coating being in Mumbai

It makes sense if you decide on the PPF on the front/rear bumpers and door edges.
