Hi All
I had booked a Sonet D AT in October 2021 and was still waiting for the allocation. But ever extending timeline, price and office situation forced me to think of alternatives. I decided to use 15 big ones more efficiently.
I am in the process of picking up a used BRV V Petrol MT for a very reasonable price (almost 1/3 of Sonet). The vehicle is 2017 single owner, done 52k KMS and maintained well through company lease. BRV will be used primarily for the highway runs. I will pick a small used AMT car for city use in future.
Got the BRV checked with Honda service center and it passed with flying colors bar few cosmetic issues.
I have few questions -
1. BRV is still on original Michelin Tyres and needs to be changed. Can I upgrade to 205/60 R16? Any impact on mileage
2. Are the projector low beams LED or HID or halogen? If halogen, then has anyone tried to upgrade the bulbs to 100/80
3. Any suggestion to procure a good and sturdy center arm rest.
4. Touch screen with reverse camera is expensive at the dealer. Any aftermarket which fits directly?
5. One of the Fog Lamp is broken and was quoted 15K plus GST for one fog lamp. Any after market fog lamps which can fit directly?
Thanks
Timely inspections and part replacements are standard to an enthusiast's manner of high upkeep.
However, I am not certain why the spark plugs needed replacement so soon. They would last 100k.
At this interval of 50k, a removal and cleaning would do, right?

I beg to add that the manual book of my BRV recommends replacing spark plugs as you rightly said at 100k OR 5 years which my BRV had achieved.
Yes we can push our luck as my friend did on his Skoda Rapid 2018 model and the engine overheated, when checked at the service centre - One of the spark plugs had failed.

Hi
Has any one upgraded the tyres to 205/60 R16?
If so, how is the performance and any impact on mileage?
Regards |
I have recently upgraded from the stock 195/60 to 205/60
From Goodyear with which I had a very bad experience... two of the 4 tyres got distorted and was giving me bad times with frequent punctures
I brought 5 pcs of Yokohama 205/60 r16 Earth1 series and have driven nearly 1500 km both on Highways and city rides.
Fuel efficiency has increased. The ride is super smooth and
silent
I faced no problem in turning or braking.
I recommend you can happily go for an upgrade but only that you need to replace all the 5 tyres and that's a pretty heavy for the pocket lol:

1) I upgraded to Yokohama 205/60 r16 after 45K as my stock Goodyear gave up. I am pretty satisfied with the replacement.
2) From the very starting I replaced my projectors with HID with OSRAM.
do not use 100/80 ...it generates a lot of heat and darkens the Headlight plastic cover. Instead you can try out AOZOOM LED if available. better than HID
3) after mkt available in Amazon
4) Pioneer or Sony will work fine....a good mechanic is all you require....
you may change the speakers as the stock speakers generally give up in 4-5 years.
5) you can go for Boodmo....not bad

Thanks for all the information.
I took delivery of the BR-V this weekend and have done around 50 KMS mostly in Bangalore City. initial observation -
1. Engine is smooth and silent in City driving
2. 1st and 2nd gear are short and need constant change in City. I am assuming its because BR-V is 7 seater and needs that picking in initial, hence short gear like utility vehicles.
Since I will be using the BR-V mainly on the highways, I will start with the Tire upgrade 1st and then move on to the headlights, arm rest and reverse camera.

I'm looking for a well maintained BR-V CVT. If anyone on this thread is interested, please PM me - location Bangalore.
I'm in the market to upgrade from my Ameo mainly for overall ride quality (my family doesn't like high riding cars - Duster, Hexa, Nexon and Creta - all are ruled out by either the driver or the passenger so far, Kiger is a wild card; Ameo is a bit too hard). Test drove a used BR-V and the car won all of us over. The deal didn't go through as the car wasn't well maintained and didn't feel like an upgrade on quality front - a better maintained car would possibly change my view.
So the hunt is on -- BR-V, Rapid, Vento, Full Stop.
Wishing the other BR-V owners many more smiles! It's really an underrated car but by far the most practical family car I have come across.
Mods - please delete this post. Didn't find it appropriate to solicit a commercial transaction here. Thanks!
Yesterday completed the 30k service ( Our BRV has run 25k odd kms ). Bill was 9k. Next service is March 2023. There is a peace of mind in a Honda.
@theabstractmind - I cannot DM you, perhaps you can. I am considering the Honda City EV - mainly for the mileage - we hardly use the BRV within city and most of our trips are long drives. I live in Whitefield.
girls and boys,
I am thinking of picking up a used BR-V in Delhi NCR. Inclined to buy a CVT.
What should I watch out for?
Also: if anyone has someone selling, please help me connect.
Thank you
Hello folks,
I am looking to get an automatic. Current drive is a Punto - love Punto so much that have 2 of them at home (crank the engine and always ready to go). Usage will be 50% city and 50% highway. Need a spacious car for lugging people and stuff around. Shortlisted the BR-V CVT has an option. Found few options on Cars24 but seemed pricey. any pointers to finding a decent one in Bangalore.
Thanks
Dear BR-V owners, have shortlisted a BR-V CVT 2018 with very low running (less than 10k). I have checked the service bills and ODO is genuine. Car seems to be in good condition. The only issue is that the 3rd service was skipped and as per the owner Honda themselves said that due to the low running service is not required. Any thoughts on this?
Also, any feedback from lady drivers on ease of driving this car?
Thanks!

My wife likes driving BRV and she was comfortable from day1 as it is relatively small compared to other 7 seater and it drives like a hatch/sedan with less body roll. Ours is idtec MT.

No big deal. Going by kms done, the owner did not get the car serviced because it was not used (probably because of covid lockdown/work-from-home)

After phasing out of hydraulic steering and introduction of EPS, pretty much all cars on sale are "easy to drive". Just make sure to install reversing camera and parking sensors and it will be good to go.
Thank you smartcat and arun_kun.
Not tech savvy enough to multi-quote. Both of your responses give me enough confidence to go ahead.
Best part is the previous owner has installed reversing camera. I found the car very easy to maneuver despite the length. Time to finalize the deal!

My niece learnt driving using my 2003 Fiat Palio and SWIFT from driving school. She got her license in March this year
I bought a used BR-V V Petrol MT in April and my niece finds it easier to drive the BRV than Palio or SWIFT.
She was at home right from day 1 and never struggled.
My BRV doesn't have reverse camera, so reversing is a bit tricky sometimes for her. Other than that no issue in maneuvering the BRV in Bangalore city.
