Dear fellow BHPians,

I planning to go for the JC Longitude diesel AT.
Also I am curious to know why Jeep is offering heavy discounts like the corporate discounts only on this model and not on the longitude plus diesel AT.
I did not have a convincing reasoning for this from dealerships in Hyderabad.
Is there some thing suspicious to worry about in this model?

Nothing suspicious. Discounts are usually offered on slower selling variants. Think the longitude plus is one of the best selling Compass variants so lesser discounts.

Also, discounts on the Longitude model bring it reasonably closer to top end Creta/Seltos pricing which may be an intention of FCA.

I wouldn't bet on demo cars for sure, because it is abused like anything by prospective customers and the showroom staff themselves. Especially for this car which has 12.5K on the ODO.

When they are already offering 1.5-2 lakhs discount on various models, 2.5 lakh discount for this, is very less.

I believe something around 21-24L would be a fair price for this.

This would be my offer as well if I'm sure to buy this.

I have got the booked car's VIN: the 17th to 20th alphanumeric are = *BL
Does it mean it's made in November 2020?

Are you sure is it B . Should be 8. Please check. If it is 8 then it is August. The letter L is for the year 2020.

Yes, it's *BL. I think FCA counts Jan to Sep as 1 to 9, then A= Oct, B= Nov, C = Dec. Can anyone kindly confirm?

PS: Had called up Jeep's customer care, who are, as expected, totally clueless.

Yes. That is correct. I also bought *BL one last month and Post a lot of verification it was confirmed that it is November.
FYI, I had major discussions with my sales manager on this and I was hell bent on getting VIN allocated before I make the full payment. Mine had 11km on Odometer during delivery. Brought a smile to my face.clap:

Congratulations. Keep updating the experience.
Apparently, the facelift will be launched in 3rd week of January. Did the SA/Showroom give any kind of inroads into the pricing and difference's?

I got my jeep compass delivered last week, and yes the chassis number ends with *BL which is confirmed by sales as November built. I made the full payment only after looking at the vehicle in person taking the snap of the VIN number after it arrived in Bangalore at the dealer's place from Pune:-)

The experience has been good so far. Yet to take it to highway...

Hey congratulations!!!clap:
I also got my booking done for a Night Hawk Diesel MT. The Mrs. Wanted all-black interiors you see.
I wanted to confirm one thing. Will the VIN be different for a Limited Edition as the dealer says that the Night Eagle was made only from July-August.
So he says that the VIN might be of August. Is that true?

Has the Jeep Compass’s Limited Plus variant gotten new alloys?

How much is a problem is the low 178mm ground clearance creates when off roading?

I presently drive a Ecosport and at 205mm claimed I get onto bad roads with gay abandon without thinking much and not hit the bottom once even in Leh, Spiti, Meghalaya, Arunachal interiors. But with Compass’ 178 mm, I am a little skeptical?

Has anyone explored the possibility of a rooftop tent on Compass or fitted? Need input on this.

Rest space, comfort and drive feel I am happy. Planning a Longitude 4x4 Diesel.
Thanks in Advance.

178 mm is the laden GC, while unladen is 208mm. It's taller than ecosport.

Hello petrol heads.

I recently got a Jeep Compass Limited 4X2. Took the delivery on 6th December and I’d love to share my purchase journey with you all because many of you have played a role in me going for the Jeep.

Before that, I have a few minor concerns that I’d like to talk about with fellow Jeepers

1. While the VIN ends with *9L, RTO’s portal picked the month of manufacture up as October and that’s what’s mentioned on the RC - What could it possibly mean?

2. When I took the delivery the car was in H mode (I don’t know what it means) - the service advisor came and advised his subordinate to disable the mode and reset the Odo to zero. I was surprised and I asked them how they could reset it and they told me it could only be done once. Having read about Odo tampering on TBHP I was a bit sceptical but I couldn’t have done much about it and honestly the car didn’t seem like it had been driven much or had been used as a TD vehicle.

3. The parcel tray strings always come off and the tray drops down every time I open the trunk. It’s very very annoying. I went to the dealership and they replaced the parcel tray from another new Compass at the showroom but the staff member said that this is a problem with every Compass especially the string on the right side comes off in almost all Jeep Compasses. I would like to ask fellow Compass owners if that’s the case. And how to fix it?
