Can a jeep owner please confirm whether the indicator stalks are on the left or right for the India spec Compass

The India spec Jeep Compass has the indicator stalk on the left side and wash/wipe on the right. Most Indian cars have the reverse setup.
Found this out during my test drive when I switched on the wiper instead of the turn signal while wanting to take a turn.

Cheers
Uday

The indicator on left and wiper on the right is carried over from the left hand drive configuration of U.S. models without change. My Ford Fiesta also has the same configuration.

In addition all Volkswagen, Fiat, GM and also Hyundai (?) cars have same configuration.

It's only the Desi and Japanese car manufacturers who follow the indicator on right and wiper on left configuration now.

PS: Not sure about how it is in Renault.

I drive a MY'11 Hyundai Verna. Wiper stalk is at left and indicator stalk is at right - Certainly not the same as Volkswagen, GM, et al.

Additionally, I checked the TBHP review for Hyundai Creta (http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/offici...ml#post3785174).
It is the same way as Verna there - Wiper @left, Indicators @right.

Checked TBHP's Renault Duster Review (http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/offici...ml#post3558952).
It is same as the Europeans and Americans there (thus, like FCA's Jeep Compass) - Indicators @left, Wiper @right.

I own VW, Fiat and GM cars and i can say VW and Fiat have same config while GM has typical Maruti style right side indicator stalk and left wiper stalk.

Guys thanks.

I stand corrected.

OT : Am on the lookout for a good " Jeep " non metal key chain. Amazon seems too expensive and only one option in plastic. Help please:

This one looks pretty cool!

Found this one, too!

Wanted new floor mats for my compass.
Any one with prior experiences with Nomad mats from 3m?
Advantages/disadvantages?

Any other good options?

Also any suggestions to make the lights better? (I've a limited version without hid)

Hi
You can find more details about the mats and lights I have opted for on my Compass ownership thread :

I am all but finalised to book a Compass (diesel), however holding on since there are no dealers in Navi Mumbai. The closest dealers are in Worli and Andheri, that's 40 Kms or 3 hrs away in Mumbai terms. Messages to Fiat India give no clarity on plans to open up in Navi Mumbai area :Frustrati

Today took delivery of my friend's Longitude Option Compass and was surprised with one aspect of it while driving.

I don't know how many of you all have observed or if it's mentioned somewhere here. The point is bottom end torque of the vehicle. It's so tractable, one can drive it even in 6th gear without using the accelerator and that too at speed of 60kmph. One can easily cruise at 60 as if using cruise control and just a tap on accelerator, the Compass take off further. Impressive.

I have the black NoMad mats for my compass from 3M Nungambakkam, Chennai. They fit well but move around a little bit esp the driver's side one. Easier on the feet too. However they look like any other noodle mat but are easier to clean. Haven't washed them yet.

They cost 8500 INR. Maybe a bit expensive for what it offers.

--------------

Had my first free checkup/service at 5000KM. There was a thud noise coming from the passenger footwell on full lock of steering wheel. Some inside part of left fender was loose and messing with the wheel apparently. This was corrected.

Was pushed to get paid alignment / balancing done with the SA even claiming tire warranty may not be honoured if this was not done regularly with the authorized centre. Outside alignments may result in void of warranty. This was incredulous but got it done anyway.

Total bill was for Rs. 920.

5. The standard floor mats are rubbish. I desperately want to get the ones like the test driven car here but not able to find it with my dealer and mopar doesnt have any online presence.

I took delivery of my minimal grey compass last wednesday. After reading such negative reviews of the carpet style floor mats,I had specifically requested for the premium rubber floor mats as seen in the team bhp review( I showed the actual photo from the review to the SE) during my booking.
Thankfully my local dealer(Aaron wheels, kolhapur) was able to provide them though I was charged Rs.1000 more than the standard mats.Even the dealership personnel were seeing them for the first time and they readily acknowledged the superior quality over the standard ones. They intend to provide these rubber mats in all future compasses that they sell.

So I think if you pester your dealer enough, he should be able to procure them from FCA:)
