That's interesting. Recently FORD has discontinued washers on Endeavour as well, so does that mean that they have downgraded lights as well? Can you post any link which confirms this. I will also try to dig more on this.

Fantastic review followed by lovely comments and analysis by fellow members. The product has certainly stood up to the expectations of the perspective buyers and I can say that this time the hype is different compared to the launch of Abarth.
I visited the dealership last weekend and saw couple of Honda City & Creta parked outside the showroom and owners checking out Compass. From what I overheard, they have ventured out from the safe offerings of Honda and Hyundai for the first time and have liked the product, which was very comforting.
I like FIAT and would love to repeat their products as I don't see any issues with the reliability aspect, the only worry is thin dealership network but that apart, Compass for one hopefully will not remain a niche product and will be picked up by masses.
FCA is on the right path, just maintain the momentum, fix up loop holes in ASS and increase the dealership network. People in Tier II cities also buy products in this price band and FIAT should not miss this opportunity.

Apparently this is the last chance for FCA to taste success in India. They've tried their hands on all possible options [ starting Solo to JV with Tata to getting the Jeep Brand]
But for once the dealers and the company must be appreciated that it held on for past 6-7 years with just 2 aged products in the portfolio.
Excellent review guys. Overall I like the fact that Jeep has put their mind into making the Compass a success in India.
However, I found one thing very odd that they advertise so called 50+ safety features but have saved a few ruppees by deleting the neck restraint from the rear middle passenger seat. They should have atleast put a small fixed/integrated one like the renault duster.
Also found that it is lacking any cubby holes at all more or less like my duster. But with the Jeep Compass, atleast the cup holders are American sized to put a smart phone side ways. Overall, it looks like a logical upgrade from a Duster/Creta. Personally, I would wait for the diesel auto with the ZF transmission and hopefully the Trailhawk version.

I hope there is some easy way to remove the front aero dam (Chin).
In a place like Bangalore, where speed breakers are the size of mini mountains, this low set chin could be a big irritant.
This car should be a good option to the premium 5 seater c-SUVs, but to the general car buyer in the sub 20 lacs segment it seems slightly over-budget given the space available. Saw one parked adjacent to the Creta with similar / better creature comforts and bigger size
It's the angle of the Photo which makes the Creta look bigger. The compass is officially longer and wider than the Creta. Also when you see it in person you can realise that this is a larger vehicle, though not by much.
This is an amazing review. The amount of detail is something.

Jeep has come out with a real winner despite minor flaws which have not been missed by our eagle-eyed reviewers. I don't think that Jeep would have made such a silly mistake in providing the front chin having tested the vehicles elaborately in India. It could probably be provided to show reduced ground clearance to comply with certain unknown norms. The fact that it can be removed means that it is only a question of time before all the owners have it removed.
Amazing review as usual. I'm sure this is one of the most awaited reviews this year. And you guys have done a phenomenal job in delivering a superb review at the right time. As some one previously mentioned, it would take super human levels of attention to detail to spot all those minute details in the car man. Hats off to you guys!!
My heart was set on this baby SUV since the first time I saw it. Also, I'm in the market for a good compact SUV. And this baby Jeep seems to be a perfect package. So, am I gonna buy it? NO. Because, as we all know, they have missed some of the very important features in this segment in order to bring down the launch pricing like:
A diesel automatic variant, cruise control, auto headlamps, auto wipers & sunroof etc.
Honestly, I cannot imagine buying a 2 million rupee car which doesn't have these features (automatic being my primary requirement). So, I'm gonna wait till January/February when the automatic variant is rumored to arrive. Hope Jeep adds all these other features too by that time. But that LHD oriented dashboard is a bit disappointing.
Else - The new Skoda Karoq looks like an another exciting package. Hope Skoda brings it to India by that time and prices it sensiblystupid:

The product is competent and it seems to have caught the attention of the public. I remember reading somewhere that the bookings are near/ have crossed the 10k mark. I sincerely hope that FCA does everything in their power to keep the Compass customers H.A.P.P.Y. - word of mouth is what they need the most. They have always had competent products but customer service is what they repeatedly faltered on.

The test vehicle you see is the same that was caught earlier by a BHPian. I happened to stop and talk to them. Also checked out the interiors. It was built for export markets with over 70 safety features, unlike India's 50. Few of the additional features include the below (whatever I can recall from my conversation with them):
1) Panoramic moonroof
2) Full HD graphical instrument panel (coloured) with various safety notifications
3) Lane sensing and forward / side collision warning
4) Cruise control on the dummy buttons that the Indian Compass gets
5) Black interiors for the high end ones as well
6) Rock mode as an AWD terrain option
7) Auto wipers and headlights

So basically whatever gripes everyone had with the variants have been provided in the export versions. I'm sure they will be made available to Indians in due course, but what wrong did we do to not at least have this as option?

May be FCA wanted to see how the market reacts to the existing compass offering.
With Renault Captur, Tata's CSUV based on discovery platform and KIA CSUV set to launch in the next 6-12 months it would right time for compass to unleash new version with the missing features and also add features in the existing lineup in the name of refresh.
By that time all doubts about mopar service should also be address and sales and service network would also increased.

Well, not really. These are
not the same cars .
The vehicle caught in the earlier post by
MartinVirage was different. It had the alloys from the existing Longitude(o) variant, limited badging at the rear and sunroof. Not a combination that's found abroad.
Wheras these pictures show the export spec Limited variant. The main difference is visible in the alloys itself.
