Its worth the 3000 to 6000 that TPMS generally costs. After spending 10+ big ones on a car, this amount is next to nothing, and worth spending certainly. Given the generally assured 5 year life-span, it comes to around 1k per year for the entire set. Not much.
Do you have any specific model in mind which can be a bit easy on the pocket and of course consistent in performance. The dealership is quoting 16k rl:for a TPMS system with heads-up display (not really required).

I checked a few online but was confused which would be the right fit. Also, I guess to fit the TPMS sensors, you have to empty the air from the tires, install the sensors and then inflate them again?

If you want an Indian product - go for Sensairy. Bengaluru based company. Available on Amazon / directly from Sensairy. A lot of fellow Nexon owners have installed it, yours' truly included. Life expectancy promised is around 5 years.

Here is a post with my installation with pictures - Post link - TPMS installation

Costs about 6-7K generally including installation for 5 sensors. Cheaper Chinese alternatives are available at as cheap as 3.5K generally. Process -
  1. Remove the wheels
  2. Remove tyres
  3. Remove existing air-valve
  4. Install new TPMS valve together with the sensor dongle in each wheel
  5. Reinstall the tyre on rim
  6. Fill air - and also map sensor to position on car on the app while doing it (Can do mapping later also.)
  7. Add appropriate weights per wheel for balancing (Price included in case of Sensairy)
  8. Install wheels back on car
  9. Get wheel alignment done.

If you use a suitable Android phone - the TPMS read out can be directly projected on the head unit screen via android Auto also. So no need of a heads up display in that case. It works fine for me.

P.S. - Many say that Sensairy only imports Chinese sensors and sells them here. I don't know & I don't care. Each sensor dongle clearly has embossed MADE IN INDIA on it, as part of molding process. No sticker job. And the software is certainly made in India.

Here's another and much cheaper option that is working perfectly for me since last 1.5 years or so, and in a friend's T-Fort for over 4 years now. It's solar powered, requires no wiring, no apps etc. and as long as your car gets to see some sun it'll work perfectly.

If the KYC for eSIM was done using J&K address proof and if J&K prepaid eSIM doesn't work out side the state then why should iRA work out side the state of J&K (i.e. in Punjab)? :)

Best,

J&K address proof was given but it doesn't matter nowadays for procuring a sim as one can buy a sim with outstation address proof as well.
Well, my brother is now on a roadtrip to Mumbai and iRA is working flawlessly as soon as he exited j&k.

Till now none of the showroom guys or Tata customer care have responded back with a solution as I think they were not aware of the problem at the first place or thought who will buy a connected car in j&k. But we are not going to let them go away easily.

Thanks for that info. This gives me hope. The family booked a red XZA+ petrol on Nov 15. Still no word from the dealer about allotment or anything else.

Am in a similar boat. I happened to talk to the SA and his manager over the weekend. Deliveries till 26-Nov had happened but a lot depends on variant, colour etc. Based on colour, variant the delivery times would vary. But he did mention about a "critical list". He has an option to push any bookings to this list based on booking date and deliveries are expedited is what i was told. I suggest you get in touch with your SA and his manager and push your case through.

Another point to keep following up regularly with your SA - readily available models and colours. For instance, today my SA called me regarding a ready to register XZ model (silver colour). However, didn't opt for it as my home minister hates that colour rl: still waiting for my white beauty.
Also note that there is no price hike from Tata Motors yet. Hope that this continues till we get the booked vehicles allotted.
If your booking is older than a month, you will get a complimentary extended warranty for 1 year.

I do agree on the available models. The manager clearly told me that in case someone cancels their booking or rejects a car, it goes to the next person in the queue. He also tried to sell me that the i should change the colour and model if i wanted the car quicker. And He didnt seem happy that i had booked the (O) variant. :D

Regarding the warranty, its been more than a month since my booking. I havent received any warranty extension SMS like other folk :unhappy Did you get any SMS citing warranty extension? If you did, please let me know when did you book and with which showroom. I got a SMS only during the initial phase of booking the car - Thank you showing interest - kind of SMS. After that nothing from TATA.

Initially i had booked a blue nexon, many times SA called me white and green are easily available but I didn’t opted for it, but latter gave up and agreed for white nexon, on same date, it got allocated to me .
Yesterday saw a demo white nexon in showroom and i was blown away by seeing the beauty.:loveit It looked so beautiful in white color. Now i am very happy with the colour decision, hope white will be a bit easier to maintain than blue.

I too received a call from my SA a couple of weeks back for a readily available car in Tectonic Blue color for my variant but I said I am sticking to my foliage green color. He persisted and sent me pics and a video of the car. I again said no to which he seemed shocked. I am assuming it was his favorite color for the car :p

Regarding, the extended warranty, it's been more than 5 weeks since I have made the booking but haven't received any such offer from Tata Motors :unhappy

I am happy to report that we completed PDI of our Nexon XM(P) at the stockyard of Dulichand Motors, Kolkata today. The car was unloaded on Jan 18 in Kolkata. Their stockyard was quite far from their showroom and almost in the middle of nowhere! So as expected the car was covered in a layer of dust :). Apart from it, the car appeared alright to us. The Odometer reading was at 11 km. The Harman music system even for XM variant is truly impressive, I must stay.

We checked/matched the VIN (MAT627224MLA0XXXX) that was sent to us earlier. As per Team-BHP VIN guide [1], the car is made in Jan 2021! We are getting only two additional fitments now: fog lamp and parcel tray (similar spec. as in XZ variant) at around ~6K. Our SA had called the mechanic who is going to install the fog lamp and I explained to him to connect the trigger of the fog lamp relay with the low beam. May be I should mention that we had booked the car on Nov 9, 2020.

I recently got Sensairy internal TPMS installed in my car. The installation part is where I was apprehensive, however, I showed the below video to the local tyre shop and he installed it perfectly.

PS: The TPMS notified the low pressure warning in one of tyres within one week of installation, turned out it had a nail in it. Had it not been installed, it could have been worse for me as I had a long drive scheduled the next day.

Hey. Congratulations on your new car! One thing I wanted to confirm is that you got a parcel tray + fog lamps installed for total 6k? Here, the dealership has quoted 17k for the fog lamps and 2k for the parcel tray!

That is great to hear :). How much did you pay at the tire shop for the TPMS installation? Tata dealership is quoting around 8k for the app based TPMS installation. Not sure which brand is being installed.

Actually, I clubbed Wheel Alignment and Balancing with the TPMS installation. In total he charged me 950 bucks for WA, WB, and TPMS installation.
